So just to make sure I've been following along and understanding properly.........Zero is in fact the strongest super robot in Go Nagai's world of super robots?
I love the Zero design and would love to add a blu-ray or two or all of it to my movie collection along with the toy. Are there any out there or is it strictly a comic?
I have to admit thought that I am partial to Grendizer and a little saddened that he is not the most powerful built with all the universe's most advanced technology stole by the Vagan Empire. LOL!

It's only a comic (manga) so far. Yes Grendizer is probably Duke Fleed's first Grand Theft. or is that considered Super Theft? Does not matter because the author will make Mazinger or his versions stronger so they can sell more toys. |

LOL! so far yes Zero is the strongest then there is a robot called Great Mazinkaiser, which is a bada$$ robot in the manga, im not sure if you know this but Zero original design was by Fewture by the late Taku Sato the design is beautiful and beast like indeed that's why Nagai gives him a Manga of his own and yes its only a manga so far as for Grendizer back in the days he was truly the most powerful Nagai creations, the gab in powers and abilities between him and other robots was very huge, yet in the move Great Mazinger Vs Grendizer Duke Fleed actually struggles with Great Mazinger because of the new chogokin z, until kouji told him about Great Mazinger weak spot and till today its not clear who actually build Grendizer, in some sources it was build by planet Fleed scientists and they hide it away, in other sources it was build Vega Empire after they found the blue prints at the end Grendizer and the Majin brothers are very hard to defeat thanks to the Chogokin z and Space Alloy Gren, they just hold the top spot among other super robots |

I Googled the manga and saw some drawings of Zero. I can definitely see the resemblance between him and the Few Mazingers. I even saw one with his mouth open sort or Eva 1 ish look. Really cool.

It seems he has a problem with Grendizer fans.  Regarding who built Grendizer. I think it's more likely that he was commissioned by Vega and built by Fleed scientists and engineers. My reason for that is they could never replicate him or make another one. Also apparently there was a time table and they probably only had the time and resources to create just one. That would actually make more sense and that's what I always believed the case to be. Frankly besides the original 3 the only update that was ever interesting was Shin Getter Robo. Go Nagai failed with Mazinkaiser in my eyes and he failed with Grendizer Giga as well. |

If you read the original Grendizer manga by Go Nagai, you will see it is not as good as the TV anime. The anime is better by leaps and bounds. He didn't have the same influence over the Grendizer animated series as he did on Mazinger and Great Mazinger. Notably, the animation director, character design and even the music composer were all different for the show. He had creative differences with Shingo Araki and Toei animation regarding the plot and characters. I believe They made better decisions with the story and characters than Go Nagai ever did for his Grendizer manga (vision). According to some sources Go Nagai even went as far as to call the Grendizer anime non-canon and he really believed at some point Grendizer is his strongest robot. But that is probably something someone here will contradict. A few Things that are not as Go Nagai wanted them were: Maria Fleed doesn't exist in the original manga, only in the TV anime (1975) He wanted to bring Sayaka as the third (Drill Spazer) pilot. Shiro (Kouji's little brother) is not in the anime nor is he even referenced. Furthering the idea that the Grendizer anime is in it's own universe and not part of the greater Mazinger saga manga. Yes I know Kouji has a Mazingr-Z flashback in the first episode, but you can see how the writers/directors wanted the focus to be on Duke Fleed and Grendizer. Otherwise there would have also been more team ups by Great Mazinger and Grendizer in the anime. I met Go Nagai way back in 2009 and he was here to meet with fans and talk about his then New (Shin Mazinger-Z) anime, which he debuted in a local cinema theater. I was pretty excited but there were so many people surrounding him I couldn't get a chance to take a picture with him. I just took a few of him like a Paparazzi.  The man made his fame and fortune from Mazinger-Z so it just makes sense that he would put in more effort to please the Zinger fans and not care much for the Dizer fans. In the end my disappointment with Mazinkaiser has nothing to do with how (powerful) or more powerful than Grendizer he happens to be like some people rush to assume. My problem with Mazinkaiser is that I wasted time following a slow release OVA series which started off with a killer first episode, only to turn out to be nothing but Go Nagai perversion garbage. That's the ONLY reason I hate Mazinkaiser. If the OVA had impressed me and was any good, I would probably have a few Mazinkaiser figures posed next to my Grendizer and Mazinger figures. I also watched the first episode of SKL. I wasn't impressed by that either. |

ADD A CAPE!!!!! the thing about Giga fans put the bar insanely high, i remember when they announced Nagai is working on a new Grendizer almost every fan got very excited because it was "how Nagai imagine Grendizer without Toei interfering" sadly the story was lame the designs of EVERYTHING was awful and the mix of characters from Nagai other shows really killed it personally i prefer Toei Grendizer the one i love and grow up watching with an awesome story, i rather if Nagai leave Grendizer to rest peace if he is going to pull some empty stories like this one, the old show is a masterpiece and its still watchable even after all those years |
