Here's some of the dirty secrets regarding the industry. Add on sets for specific toys (as opposed to a more general playset for a range of toys) sell badly. Their rate of conversion from sales of the core toy to add on sales is typically 10-20%. Worse if they are not on the shelf at the same time. But there is not a corresponding decrease in production and distribution costs for the add ons. So the manufacturers are faced with packing as much as they can into the core set, but they must be careful not to exceed their pricing thresholds. (Every price jump of X creates a decision point that reduces purchasers. You need the main product in the sweet spot price wise. ) This is why most add ons are Tamashii Web Exclusives. Reduced distribution costs, plus the retailers typically don't want them as they can be shelf warmers. They can also produce in smaller runs if they are not selling into the channel. What this means is a host of Spacers remains unlikely as always. We'll get the Spacer, maybe the Double Spacer. Anything past that and market forces start to become a problem. Either it to elevates the cost of the core product or it is a hard to sell add on with no stand alone sales potential. As an example, take note of how badly Goldymarg sold vs GGG, which went back for extra production runs and was re-issued. And Goldy could be standalone. Does this mean that the GX-70VS isn't a rip off, a money grab, milking it, or whatever angry collectors call it?

Ya know?
The old GX-04S sold pretty well and was re-issued several times. It made the various original GX-04 and 04 add-on sets completely pointless and, imo, quite a loss.
I don't think Bandai would go that route again, tho.
They wanna jack every fan of their funds with (possibly) TWE money-grab add-ons, ala what they did with the previous DX-Maz and the GX-70 add-on shenanigans...

Does this mean that the GX-70VS isn't a rip off, a price grab, milking it, or whatever angry collectors call it? Of course not. But it's an exclusive. It's more economically viable for them to do the niche market gouging directly through their direct channels. This avoids unsold product at the retailers. Honestly I suspect that the VS add ons were something that were cut from the main set late in development in order to hit pricing thresholds. But they already had designs and tooling for, so why the heck not?!? Something similar probably happened with the Big-O set. This is not to say say that there is not a market for high margin add ons for some product lines. Barbie has thrived in that space for many years (although note that you see fewer outfit sets these days and more themed outfit specific dolls. GI Joe similarly went from core figure and sole function accessories to 3 1/2" fixed look figures and more universal playsets.) I know I am grossly oversimplifying things. Also never forget, Bandai is weird. It never pays to attribute malicious mercantilism to them when a product offering or product decisions can be equally explained by a random thought on the development side. Such as "what do I want for lunch?" Bandai is very much a Japanese company, so a weird mix of rock solid practicality and efficiency, and oddly flowery symbolism and poetry.

I don't have a Grendy in my collection. Was never crazy about the SOC version. I wanted the Brave Gokin version, but was too scared to buy one after the quality control horror stories. This will be my redeeming purchase. Can't wait to get this.

you know i just realized something, DX Great Mazinger need it Great Booster to be complete like Mazinger z, and clearly Grendizer will need the other Spazers to be complete so im thinking they will do a TWE that include the Spazers along with the Great Booster TBH, I do not want to see the DX 3 Earth Spazers!!! Mercy.

Mr Clean, a wise decision.
During the move....i threw away CMs version. The oversized rubbery hands, crappy saucer, the broken robot...everything. That $300 cerainly will go a long way with DX Grendizer, undoubtedly a fantastic piece.

It's more economically viable for them to do the niche market gouging directly through their direct channels. This avoids unsold product at the retailers. Just to chime in. As a regular robot fan, i fully support this idea. I am more than happy with the "basic" set which comes with the standard jet scrander, base stand as extra hands. I really do not need the gx-70vs devil man addon (which is targeted towards the more hardcore mazinger fans) to be honest. I would be pretty unhappy paying more for the accessories which i dont need nor like if they bundle everything togather. Now, if you tell me the basic gx-70 does not come with the jet scrander, and i have to pay for a seperate jet scrander addon, that would be a ripoff.

Yeah, I didnt want it anymore.
I didnt have room for broken toy for the move so im pretty sure i put it in a trash bag.
I also ran out of time for selling it, not that a broken toy with no box would fetch much.

Hey Duke i would love to. IF i find it, its yours.
Anyone else who hates theirs as much as I did, you heard the Duke. This should be VERY simple. Send the just the horn via mail. Should take at most 10 minutes of your time with a dollar poastage at most. Lets help our brother out, at least he will be loved more then by some of us....

I don't even mind paying some amount of money for those or if it's easier for anyone to unscrew the head (making sure not to drop the lil' Duke Fleed within), it's also cool! Many thanks.
