I'm a new collector less than 5 months and naturally would like to have the DX Mazinger Z in my collection. Especially since I have the DX Great Mazinger and all the big GX super robot combiners. Any chance of a re-release/reissue/renewal for DX Mazinger Z since the DX line is expanding in the future?
I talked to some of veteran collectors who have or had it and they told me don't buy and it's not worth the asking price on the secondary market. I like to get more opinions about what others think.

yea the asking price is insane, last time i check a friend told me it cost about $1300 and if you want the Tamashii web exclusive Jet Scrander set (which is a must) then price will be even more
the thing is the DX Mazinger was release to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Mazinger z, and as far as i know anniversary's or TWEs items dont get a reissue since they are a limited edition items
tho i really hope they do reissue, so other fellow collectors could get it, its just so good the best mazinger z ever produce and every one should be able to own one

I truly hope for a renewed version that fixes the flaws of the Mazinger Z DX like Great Mazinger DX did too. I think Bandai would be foolish not to do so but I also understand they don't want to piss off the collector market and that they don't do re-releases for specially produced items like Mazinger Z DX was.

It's a tough call. The DX defijitely had issues, but it is the centerpiece of my Mazinger collection. To make matters a little more complicated, if you get it, you'll probably want to get the scrander too. If it were me, I'd check out online shops like Mandarake or Jungle, or auction sites like Yahoo.jp. You'll definitely get the best prices there, But you'll have to pay out the nose for shipping. Will they re-release it? I dunno. But It seems like there's forum members who have the inside scoop on Bandai, and if they haven't said anything here, then I'm going to assume it's not going to happen for a little while (at least the next couple years). Good luck!

I do know that in this hobby, never say never. If there is still good money to be made, i dont see why Bandai will not want to reissue it.
However, i also have to admit that this piece is not for everybody. Its huge and dont come cheap, even when it was sold at retail price, togather with the shipping charges, it cost an arm and a leg. The market for this might not be as big as say the SOC. So i would guess that a reissue will be rather slim although not impossible.

You bring up a good point. The fact that DX Maz is huge makes the market much smaller. The targeted population is hardcore Mazinger collectors, and they are mostly in Japan, where space comes at a premium. For most, even if they have the money to purchase the DX, they may not have the space for it.
I displayed DX Maz in its hangar for a brief moment, and then put it back into the box to make space for others on my display. The hangar for DX Great Maz has never seen the light of day.
Perhaps if anything, they would re-release it without the hangar. It's a cool touch and adds a premium feel to the figure, but man I wish it didn't come with them to save space!

I think one of the biggest problems people had with the DX SoC Mazinger Z was that the arms or elbows were easy to pop off.
Like they are not as solid as the DX Great Mazinger. Other than that,it was solid.

Do you guys foresee the DX Great Mazinger piece also being as pricey in the future too?

I see it going up, maybe not as fast or as high as DX Mazinger but once stock dries up sooner or later it will go up. Especially if they make a DX Grendizer and continue the line you WILL get completeists who will want to whole set and sellers who are more than welcome to oblige at a healthy mark-up off course.

OK, I better make plans to get one before supplies dry up. I noticed bbts.com lowered their price to $399. I wonder if that's the lowest around.

I got mine from the BBTS for $399, and I'm so glad I did. I love it. As for as I know, that's the best price you'll find.

I have forgotten how much it costs initially, but thought 399 is a decent price now. But have to check out the shipping costs too, this is one big and heavy fella.

One of the things that made me hesitant to purchase GM when it originally came out other than price was that I wasn't happy with how DX Mazinger's chest armor and the elbows popped off easily. I assume [or hope] these issues have been corrected with GM

DX Great is THE best representation of the character at any price.......bar non.
Id like to know if there is a better Great mazinger gokin...*cricket chirping* At bit more then average Hot Toys diecast iron man line, $399 is a Great price for this beautiful piece. Highly recommended, RJ bros approved.
The right elbow is not infallable on mine when hard playing with it, but i heard DX Mazinger was far FAR worse. The reason i never will pick up DX Mazinger as is.

Thanks guys for all the input! It motivated me to find one for myself, besides I just binged watched all the episodes of Mazinger Z/Great Mazinger/MazinKaiser past few weeks. So the Chogokin Gods must have felt sorry for me because Mazinger Z popped up less than hour from me and didn't have to pay current secondary market prices and shipping. Overall, I really like DX Mazinger Z and don't have the chronic falling pieces when I pose, move it around or even swapping out the Iron Cutters. Is it worth current asking price $1000-1500? No, not to me but it is a beautiful center piece to have along with DX Great Mazinger.

Nice score, Chogo! Congrats. Your display looks great. How long has it taken to build your collection?
