i totally agree with you, the Thunder Megazord will be epic, honestly i always wanted one even more than Daizyujin but i guess it will take some time with all the projects Bandai is doing at the moment it's my favourite megazord but They recently release it in the super sentai artisan line so I don't see a better (soc) release coming soon... Yeah. Maybe within the next 5 years or after a reissue SoC Voltron is released.

Thunder Megazord sounds good to me. I really hope Bandai make more. Megazord and Dragon Caesar is not enough & SoC line is not for pure super robots anymore. Why not making an RX 78-2 with the white base?

Why not making an RX 78-2 with the white base? This came up recently over on tfw2000 boards. Here is the most likely cause. Gundam is such a large product line at Bandai that it likely has its own fully dedicated product management and development team. Similarly the Chogokin lines have their own team. While friendly and likely well prone to work together in most businesses of this sort Team A's natural inclination will not be to step into the domain of Team B unless invited. So the Gokin team has their "to do" list. But it would likely not have Gundam or White Base on it unless somebody decides to step outside the box and suggest "why don't we team up on this!" It's not impossible, but the normal day to day flow of work and business tend to work against it. The various departments tend to stick to their areas unless something really stirs them up. Honestly, if we were to get a RX-78-2 in SOC I would hope and pray that it would be a DX. All the bells and whistles. I'm looking forward to the Dragon Caesar in part because it reminds me of a tricked out MechaGodzilla. As far as another Sentai SOC? Put me down for DekaRanger Robo or Dynaman Robo please.

Yeah. Maybe within the next 5 years or after a reissue SoC Voltron is released. if you remember just before the GX-72 Bandai release the same character in another line, it came out of nowhere so im hoping maybe they will do the same with the thunderzord but of course they will need a bit of time

Part of the reasons behind GX-71 and 72 was to increase North American penetration. And yes I know that Bandai Proper, Bandai Japan is entirely separate from Bandai America, who just lost the Power Rangers license. But Hasbro tends to cut very broad exclusive deals and rabidly go after anyone that crosses into their territory. So it may complicate things if Bandai wants to do more Sentai SOC's that can also be branded as Power Rangers. I suspect GX-72 was specifically a "thinking outside the box" moment where Bandai higher ups were asking "what can we do that would sell well in North America and allow us to expand our Tamashii Nations footprint there via Bluefin?"

That may not be the reason. I think Hasbro gets control over the license on february 2019. May be the packaging did not get good feedback...

According to the press release, Hasbro won't start producing MMPR toys until 2019. So, I'm pretty sure we'll get Power Rangers Dragonzord packaging for upcoming GX.

I don't think it will be any power ranger packaging. The megazord one was announced way before the release. they would have used it as a selling point if there were any. (Too bad because I have the PR box and now it won't look good next to the dragon Caesar one...)

w/ Hasbro getting the license for MMPR - does this mean no more Titanus in the future and more future SOC related MMPR?
Basically - hold on to your Megazords and Dragonzords?

Mmpr has zero effect on the sentai license owned by bandai japan, especially since tamashi items are "for sale in Japan only". If anything there might not be anymore power rangers boxes for sentai stuff unless Bandai japan and hasbro work something out

The packaging for both GX-71 and GX-72 seemed to cause some weird feedback for Bandai. The Japanese fans of GX-71 were pissed they didn't get the nice North American slipcover. The North American fans of GX-72 were peeved that they didn't get the standard SOC packaging that matched the rest of their collections and the Japanese fans of GX-72 were annoyed that they didn't get the nice Megazord art that was on the North American box. I think the takeaway to Bandai was "f**k it! Just give them all the same bloody box!"

w/ Hasbro getting the license for MMPR - does this mean no more Titanus in the future and more future SOC related MMPR? Basically - hold on to your Megazords and Dragonzords? Bandai holds the license to the Sentai series. And Bandai owns enough of Toei to make it unlikely for that to ever change. The loss of license was Bandai America, which is a third party company that began by importing Bandai toys from Japan to America. (Godaiken) Proper Bandai (Bandai Japan) has no ownership or stake in Bandai America they are completely separate entities baring some individual business partnerships. The MMPR and Power Rangers IP is wholly owned by Saban. Bandai America's license was with Saban not Toei. We don't know for certain how the licensing change will impact Bandai or SOC. Hasbro does generally get as much of a license as they can, but they don't always get all of it. The "High End Die Cast Collectable" license would be a separate piece from the "Plastic Retail Action Figure" license. So Bandai (Japan) may still have access to the Power Rangers Branding for SOC. Or they may not. Or the Hasbro license may in fact preclude Bandai from marketing even a Sentai branded SOC in the US directly (Bluefin) if the subject appeared on screen in Power Rangers. We honestly have no way of knowing. The License change would likely have no impact on the Dragonzord which will probably release under MMPR branding. Here's the other strange thing. Remember Bandai (Japan) and Bandai America are not the same company. In fact it is likely that Bandai (Japan) wants or wanted Bandai America gone with a capital G. BA is effectively squatting on Bandai's global brand in North America. Banda proper has been seeking to expand into that market directly in recent years. But BA complicated that. (Hence the heavuy use of the Tamashii Nations branding in the US and Canada). So Bandai America's loss of the Power Rangers license from Saban does not in any way indicate any bad relations between Bandai themselves and Saban. It may in fact be quite the opposite.

Bandai is still doing Sentai. Personally not very excited about Hasbro getting Power Rangers.

And right after I wrote my above post the situation changed... radically. Hasbro bought Power Rangers. Not the toy license. They now own the whole property. Toys, tv shows, IP, everything. Satan sold out. Hasbro also got a few other things such as “My Pet Menster”. So Power Rangers are being added to the shared Hasbro Universe. I suspect that that will end any chance of seeing SOC’s released as “Megazord” going forward.

Not necessary true as Hasbro have granted license to other toy manufacturers for products they don’t intend to make. Like the The big Unimetal Optimus prime by Fewture. The small little transforming Optimus Prime PEN by Sen-Ti-Nel. MAS Optimus by Toy Alliance. Even HotToys got a license to make a Optimus with Starscream parts. Hasbro probably more than willing to issue out and grant license to other parties since it owns so much vs Saban.

Does this mean that the chance for the release of SOC Titanus just diminished greatly? Would the Japan only market be able to support the release?

Titanus may happen in the form of king brachion... bandai still owns super sentai licenses. But forget the PR packaging
