This kind of prominence in advertising reminds me of the metal build mazinger. I only have the one F91 metal build, so for those metal build collectors, does the joints and engineering remind you guys of metal build instead of SRC? Personally I prefer SRC for the lower price point and diecast placement (outside, not frame only). I have 8 MB and this Voltes does not look like one. If it was Metal Build, for that scale I believe Bandai would have incorporated the transformation/combination gimmick, and since none of the pictures depict that feature, I doubt it is MB. MBs also have more sculpted details and/or tampo details and this figure seems too simplified. My bet is this will be SRC.

The joints does seem reminiscent of the SRC Brave-series (Might Gaine, J-Decker, etc).
However, the extreme articulation reminds me more of the recent Hi-Metal R line.
Either case, I would like it to be around 140mm to 170mm.
Just hope it does not turn out to be a tiny 125mm Robot Damashii...

Given how little sculpted details and Tampo printing are on the DX Combattler, I doubt Voltes would in any representation by Bandai. If it's not in the source materials Bandai likely wouldn't include them. Unlike gundam, SRs from the 70s and 80s just don't have much details.
If articulation is the focus as being shown in the picture, the lack of combination and transformation gimmick wouldn't surprise me either.
I do agree this seems to be a smaller scale toy. The joints do not look like SRC to me as well. I guess it's possible it's a new toy line too if the joints don't look like MB either. Who knows but we love speculating. Lol.

You might be on to something.
HMR Super Robot, but thats too much(?!?) metal for High Metal (?) Ridiculous line. Its known for "Low" Metal R
LOL, it might FINALLY justify the moniker..."High" Metal

The HMR Monster actually has a lot of metals. Very heavy and very well made!

Question; scale-wise is the HMR stuff on par with SRC?

The Macross themed HMR, which is about 90% of the line, are around 1/100 so the toy sizes vary depending on the specification of the mecha. The VF-1s are about five-inches tall so similar to the smaller SRC. On the other hand, the monster is monstrous and heavy.
Not sure about other non-Macross HMRs but perhaps other can chime in.

Oh wow. At 1/100 they're bigger than I thought. That puts them at the same size as metal builds. Wow.

These are literally going to be gold bars in the Philippines. Every dude in his late 30's to early 50's who watched the show on TV as a kid is going to want one there. I was originally raised off of Voltron in 1984 being from California, but in 1999 I opened myself up to learn everything about Voltes V during a family reunion trip to the Philippines. I can't get enough of Voltes V memorabilia. And this SRC is making me so impatient, just like when GX-31 was first announced around 2005-06. The only thing that could top my feelings of joy that this is coming, is if we get an announcement of a DX Voltes V. Then I will pass out. lol

SRC or not the figure looks amazing
but if turn out to be an SRC, i cant wait for next products, articulation is a key reason for me to buy a figure
i hope they include effects parts too

I know it's wishful thinking and based on what we see so far from the pics, it would be so cool if we could get the stomach section to open up and eject the Ultramagnetic Top. That would definitely be cool if a possible DX release could incorporate that gimmick. Wishful thinking on the SRC though.

Oh wow. At 1/100 they're bigger than I thought. That puts them at the same size as metal builds. Wow. The HMR are not scaled across the line. The HMR Dougram is about 1/60. Figure is 16cm, real world height is 9.63 meters. HMR Macross is about 1/80 - 1/100 according to anymoon.com.
