I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the NEW series of micronauts. They are the familiar characters, but they are all very Todd Macfarlenized. I like the sculpts, but ti seems that they kinda missed the "interchangbles" part of the Micronauts tagline... Check them out here: photos.figures.com/photo/TF05/showgallery.php?cat=512

The sculptures are really nice, but the thing about micronauts was how original they were. These, especially the space glider are pretty derivative. He looks like richard simons in that suit. It will be totally dated in three years. His head is great without the mask. They should have made him more Roman looking with his costume instead of that jumpsuit.
The bad guys are pretty cool, but I don't care about them as much.

I like the figures, but just don't see them as "Micronauts" (Like the American Godzilla....so long as I don't think that the CGI lizard is Godzilla and is instead just some random giant monster I can enjoy the movie...). For me this misses the boat in the same way Palisades did...no vehicles, accessories...the stuff that really was interchangable. QC problems aside if Palisades had released some vehicles...Ampzilla, Lobstros, Hornetroid...or even some smaller vehicles I think the line would have done better...I'll still buy these, but they will probably reside on a shelf with regular action figures, not with the rest of the Micronauts.

Hey, I wasn't aware of these! Thanks for posting, Guyx1!
Hmmm..... these look to me like they might be made from that heavy, soft plastic that gets used such a lot these days. The emphasis seems to be on sculpt and paint job, more than articulation or feel. I bought one of those recent SF3D figures; it felt heavy enough to be metal, but it wasn't, it was a great solid lump of plastic and I hate the feel and the limited poseability. It's one I regret getting. Model kits seem to have fallen off the market now and pre-painted statuettes and figures with extremely limited articulation seem to have taken over. This is regrettable, in my opinionated opinion.
Lobros looks the best by far, but I don't think I'll be shelling out for these. Thumbs down from the Hypnotator.
