Yep that’s what I was expecting for shipping as expected double that price for DHL. Most Japan sites aren’t using EMS right now least ones I use.

NY's shipping prices tend to be a bit more compared to others at least from the short duration I've successfully used them. So that EMS charge might be a bit more than what they're actually paying.

So you either upgrade to UPS saver or risk your paid order not reaching your hands because you left it at EMS. Besides, that rate will go up once Japan post starts shipping out EMS again as per the new regulations.

Yep just because EMS is listed or an option doesn’t mean it’s available service. Happened to me over the summer.

It was the option I selected when I preordered and it was also what was invoiced by NY, with no option to change. I'm secretly hoping that EMS becomes available by the release date. If not, I'm sure I'll hear from NY.

If not, I'm sure I'll hear from NY. Not sure if you'll hear from them per se. I did for some preorders, but not all. However, you can always submit a ticket to request changing shipping method if you don't hear from them after release. For something current and have in stock, they are more likely to act on your ticket compare to orders that were sitting in limbo for many months with no in-hand stock. To give you a time frame, I preordered the Robot Damashii Vierrss (Web Exclusive) from them with a 7/27/20 release date. I did not get a email notification of not able to ship until 9/7/20, telling me my original shipping method can't be used currently (SAL). So if you are not on top of things, it can take them a month before contacting you on their own. Just FYI.

You gotta love Nippon Yasan and their customer service!
As much as I would like to order from them (based on price), hearing other people's experience with their customer service isn't exactly the best when dealing with them.

NY became one of those retailers that run smoothly as long as you buy items that don't require much interactions (no risk of sold out, short of stock, changing shipping method or order details). But once you need some back and forth communication, you are testing your luck with their ticket system. Sometimes I actually get good response and a reply within a day or two and get things resolved. Other times I need to re-submit a couple tickets after wait for weeks.

I’ve been a customer of NY since 2012 with approximately a dozen orders that went smoothly. i do not foresee an issue with DX V5 except for maybe an additional charge for more expensive shipping like UPS.

From personal experience, you need your credit card company to step in. Sic-ing Visa/Mastercard/AMEX after NY will get a pretty fast response which was the route I took.
I think, for generic purchases that are NOT shorted, like say, the SoC Gardian that apparently no one wants (go figure), going with NY is fine I think. Still, given the sour taste they left me with Rollerskates Voltron et al the last 2ish years, I'm done. FWIW, given my years of purchasing from them that equates to a few thousand, you'd think there was some better customer service.
That's my 2 cents on NY. That being said, for those members here where NY is still coming through, more power to you. My go-tos now are: Anime-Export, CD Japan, Ami2, Hobby Search, HLJ, and BBTS -- albeit, for HLJ and Hobby Search, they seem to run out of stock of the stuff I'm after that I've been unable to buy from them for awhile now.
There are other vendors I'll go to too like My Kombini, Bandai Online, etc.

You mean the Miracle Production V Voltron or did your SOC V Voltron have an issue they refused to solve?

Credit card is only good for 90 days and Paypal is 180 days... you can check their FB so many comaplain Did you have to pay upfront with this preorder? So in my case.... Preorder Date - July 2, 2020 Preorder Invoice Date - December 9, 2020 Preorder Payment Date - December 10, 2020 Scheduled Release Date - December 26, 2020 Assuming worst case scenario, I can't see myself not taking care of business within 180 days. I'm not defending/promoting Nippon-Yasan in any capacity but they have done good by me since 2012 as per my previous post. And no, they are not my sole retailer. I also peruse HLJ, AmiAmi, and BBTS. We shall see where this goes, I guess. Hopefully I don't become one of their bad CS victim.
