Looks more anime accurate especially in the face. I'll probably bite.

If its just a popy repaint with an extra head and metallic limbs I'll pass. But I will take advantage and score an original when the popy color fans start selling off theirs

I don't know ,other than for money, why Bandai ever made this with yellow plastic legs on the lion instead of the g9ld chrome. It's the one thing I didn't like about the soc version and makes me a bit mad to see it now with the gold chrome because I never would have bought the first version had this been available but this is how they make money from Vintage toys but come on already are we supposed to sell our old ones or buy a second home just to be able to display all the variants. Why don't they just give us what we want right from the gate. Most people I think agree we want what we had as kids just more articulate heavier and bigger but still have all the traits loved when we were young. I heard such great things about the first issue that I bought 3 of them and paid a premium because I was late to the party and a week later they announce the rerelease. This business tactic has me wanting to sell my collection completely because I just can't keep buying these but everytime a new version is released its like missing the biggest party in high school if I don't buy one and better be at preorder or the keg will be empty . Frustrated jot really but it's a bit annoying

Frustrated jot really but it's a bit annoying The first version is more accurate to the cartoon, which is what Bandai goes for on first release. Reprints are a notorious money grab on a popular figure. It allows the company to make more profit off the mold since they don’t have to pay the development cost again. I don’t mind the repaint. I only buy the ones I really want and I want this one and will get the inevitable Voltron Popy repaint. I prefer the cartoon accurate paint on most.

I always thought the toy lion head was better than the anime one for Daltanious. The chrome parts look a lot nicer too. Bandai's really twisting the knife by including the anime lion head with the renewal release. Expect repaints as long as the company feels it can profit from them. Didn't have much of an interest in the first release. Bandai's making me look twice at this one.

This version def gives me nostalgia of the old toy I no longer have.
I don't mind repaints. Gives some collectors the opportunity to get a version of a robot they missed. It does mess with the market value of the older release though, which is unfortunate. But are we collecting for our shared love of robot toys or for resale value?

And the R version has some nice extras. And yeah For the R or Renewal Release Bandai will often make it a "Popy Toy Color" version, which is why this one gets the gold chrome.

But some people like me enjoy the hunt. That’s one of fun part of collecting. Is getting some you been searching for. That’s way I’ve been collecting for past 30-35 years. If it’s easily available the desire and demand decrease. . I know when I get rid of some mecha either due to space limitations or I just don’t want the toy anymore. You be lucky to even sell it for what you paid for it. These collectibles are somewhat elite of the elite. Not many people can afford these items let alone know what they are in first place. Many people buy mecha and have no connection or let alone heard of it. I had Godaikins as kid so there’s special part of collecting for me especially Daltanious. With that being said I do have most of -R because I love collecting super robots but I only buy these once they are discounted or on eBay and let somebody else take the hit. 😛

Tempted to pick one up, nostalgia really messing with me right now with this R release. I remember seeing the old school popy godaikin as a kid in one of them hole in the wall toy stores back in HK. I always remembered the gold chrome legs of the lion that really stuck out in the display cabinet. Bandai really knows how to get us in trouble with our better halves

Gold's review of the original is probably going to make me buy this. Really love the design of this bot, but never got around to buying the original.

Wonder if bandai will ever do a black version release of this guy 😛 Other than Daizyujin I can't think of many other recent "Black" recolor releases they've done? Maybe that black and silver Batman'esque Maz Z? But they seem a lot less prone to make them lately.

yeah, would be neat if they did more of the black version releases on the SOC line again.

Is it just me, or is this reissue a fair bit more than the original release? I was fine paying a bit more for Dairugger, but if it’s going to be a price increase across the board...

I don’t know nothing about this robot but I have one in preorder wit a dealer I know. Seems to be a cool figure and why not? This will be the first mecha I will own and not know anything about him.... I just think it’s cool because of the lion on his chest
