I was thinking the exact opposite. Using the Renewal as one last time profiting from the mold before retiring it. Let Black Wing lead the sales to fit the old GX-13 or R. Then another year or two later, roll out the much better Dancouga 2.0 also compatible, paired with Black Wing reissue or recolor matches Dancouga 2.0 colors better. All that profit potential, all those double dipping Of course, all that is just my random speculations, but kind of make business sense for Bandai to do so. Makes sense. It won't be the first time Bandai did a cash grab on an old design before cutting loose with an improved version. Probably won't happen right away, but in a year or two? I wouldn't be surprised at all. I've seen it before. Any past examples to note?

I could be wrong, but Bandai's revised/improved a number of sentai/Ultra Figuarts characters as well within a few-year gap.

Meaning of course it gets a lot of special treatment. I was kinda hoping the SoC Dancouga Renewal could have made way for Ideon to take its place but here we are. I mean the combined Dancouga needs a lot of touching up. Maybe use the Super Minipla as a bit of a basis and add some more articulation.

As I said, Bandai's done this with other lines as well, especially when franchises have anniversaries coming up (e.g., Damashii, Figuarts, etc.). Truth is, neither of us has a clue what Bandai's going to do. It's easier, IMO, to just say that anything's possible. I was surprised at the news of DX Voltes and Daiku. I hope Bandai continues to surprise, especially with an improved Dancouga.

Sorry not so familiar with Dancouga.. The blackwing is in Dancouga or Dancouga nova anime? Original Dancouga. This mech was piloted by Alan Igor who is the son of Ross Igor. In the anime he dies after an episode but in the SRW universe, they kept him alive and made Black Wing into a new wing pack to form Final Dancouga.

The thighs were also too far spread for Dancouga and the hip joints are substandard. The lack of any butterfly joints also hurt posing. I would also love the connection of the head of Dancouga to not require an extra piece.

...I would also love the connection of the head of Dancouga to not require an extra piece. I believe they fixed this in the GX-13R, but I could be wrong. What would suck is that Black Wing only compatible with GX-13R but not the original GX-13, since they slightly retooled the backpack connection on the R. If Black Wing only fits the R, and there is no Dancouga 2.0 coming, then I may just skip this altogether (only has GX-13). With the right move, Bandai can get me to buy 2 product (Black Wing + Dan 2.0), 1 product (Black Wing compatible with GX-13), or none (Black Wing only fits GX-13R). So what's your plan, Bandai?

No. Connection for the head is still the same but the new head can be treated as a whole nother piece. As for the back connections,I do not have the old GX-13 so I cannot vouch for this part of the figure being that much different or not.

The Black Wing was only a booster unit in the video game, not in the anime, so for me, not having a Dancouga to plug it into isn't a deal breaker. I always thought the Black Wing was a cool design in and of itself, and I may buy it just as a standalone piece (of course, if Bandai releases a better Dancouga, I'll snap it up too).

So when do you guys see this releasing? We haven't seen actual prototype pics yet. So I'm thinking Q1 2021.

Design is totally different from the Soc Dancouga : we can see the Sentinel mood is here. Obari references too. It could be no surprise Bandai reboot Dancouga now. Original GX-13 is now from 2003... (I am dreaming about a SOC Dancouga Nova)

I don't see bandai doing a new dancouga, not many bots have received 2 soc itinerations, and I don't think dancouga has that status. Also the gx13R version is about a year old. The closest we might be to a new dancouga could be dancouga Nova
