"Hup Gum" is indeed gokin in Cantonese. And when you hear them say "Chung", that means its heavy. Have a feeling that a lot of people will pass on this due to the goofy design, but for those that know what it is, it will be a beloved piece. Sort of like the SOC GX-63 General Franky back then. Great figure, goofy look, not a lot of love.

I opened mine.... Didn't expected mate finish (didn't paid attention at first). Design, build, all good. The Z hinge to plug the moveable crotch piece can detach from the Crotch part : those came attached together in box. It's safier to plug the articulation piecefirst then plug the crotch part after it. The hand panels covering the engine (cuttaway love) are not hinged backward : those just plug in place. I love the face with clear eyes look. Reminds me old car light design. The mini vehicules give a strong Time Bokan touch. The upscaled line from POSE+ gonna display so well with this GODARM.

Just arrived today. Here’s my summary so far:
Lots of panel armor to add on which goes on flush. No diecast on the armor or externally except the exposed joints. However, this thing is pretty dang heavy almost 3 pounds... Accurately 2 Lbs and 12 ounces.
Most of the joints are freakin heavy duty, tight and ratchety clicky sounds. Nice ankle articulation and knee articulation. Little compartment garage with doors for 5 vehicles Beautiful packaging and all color manual. AB crunch is nice but not sure how to fit the Orange garage piece. Surprisingly No falling parts or armor while posing this.
Thing is literally like a blocky brick they way it looks and feels. 😛 Nothing bad to say but I am fan of Pose+ and have all their pieces so far.

Okay. So quick thoughts on Gordam. I’ll start by saying I love this design. I love, love, love wonky-ass 70’s designs. The box is a bit of a disappointment from a POSE standpoint. POSE has been putting everything in the excellent heavy-gauge boxes. This is slightly better than Bandai cardboard.
What’s in the box is mind-blowing. POSE is leading the high-end robot market. I don’t even know where to begin. Everything works exactly like it should. It’s heavy as #$&*. Nothing moves under its own weight it moves everywhere but never under it’s own weight. Which frankly I am so accustomed to after collecting Gokins for years. Joints that can hold the weight in any position is so, so appreciated. There are so many additional decisions in so many areas. The interior mechanics and all that paint. Amazing. Is articulation sacrificed? No. The articulation is off the charts. The ribbed arms are a totally unique take on arms and articulating something like that. All the little vehicles, perfect. Store simply and safely inside the bot, wonderful no bullsh*t, no fiddliness. This pulls together so many robot collectors gimmicks all of it balanced perfectly. You don’t trade any one gimmick for another, panels don’t pop off. It’s just amazing. Yeah and you get a great little toon panel of the characters. A pack of what I assume are stickers of characters too on clear stands, I haven’t opened them. A full color instruction book.
I could kiss the company on the mouth.

For the Box, there are plus & minuses. Totally agree I dig the older thicker cardboard from the early POSE+ releases for sure. This flimsy cardboard seems to be inline with Baikanfu's (still thicker than SOC's). Though on the box art, I think Gordam is a step up from previous designs. The composition and colors are overall more professional and much less empty, with even some anime key art in it. Some of their previous box art look very plain and a bit amateur-ish. Look wise, this is a definite improvement. But no styrofoam tray...bummer.
And that's one thing about POSE+. They are really passion projects of the folks there. They didn't choose the robot to guarantee sales, but niche personal favorites of their designers, and try to make them so good that they will sell anyway. That's the message that came across in the few ToysTV interviews and demos I saw. Passion goes first, money second. And it shows.

So many cool releases... Pose+, riobot and CCS are really pushing our wallets (and bandai). But after seeing it and reading your comments I really want this one. I will try to get it, but my wallet says not now. I hope they do a reissue as they did with Baxinger.. I'm also afraid of the extra things they can release for this beast, buying everything will make a huge damage to my limited budget. I share your opinion mpchi you can see how much passions and care they put in each project. Even when they started small, they have been doing an amazing work, a very good QC for a newcomer, and took the hard road with obscure mechas. there a few companies that has been in this business for years and still don't have this attention to details and a decent QC.

Aargh!
You guys make so many good points. I WANT one now.
Soon as they do “my robot,” I’m there.
Come on Pose plus, please do Votoms. Dougram, Groizer X, Texas Mack…

Just as I commented on how nice the boxart layout this time around and went to open my Gordam in my garage, I was welcomed with a very smashed up box...sigh. Inspected everything inside seems ok with nothing broken, but the bottom side got crushed to a point the trays inside got very stuck. Need my wife to help pull the box to get the content out.
Mine has some paint flaw on the big yellow "bib", and the left lower leg mechanical detail a little wobbly. But structure-wise seem problem free. Sigh...so much for the nice boxart. I just put back everything in the box in the meantime, and check out the toy another time when my disappointment subsides. Not on the toy, just on my luck, or lack there of. Oh well.

Who did you buy from? Robotoybase. Not enough stuffing in the box this time with quite a bit hollow space. Would be fine if shipping box in decent shape. But it got crushed, so the damage go straight to the goods.
