Woah~! Very exciting news!! Facebook info: "threezero X Takayuki Takeya Ideon's prototype will be displayed in WonderFestival 2020 [Shanghai] during Oct 3rd - 4th ! (threezero booth no.: E2-A11)" Quick coloring on the thing just to make it read better, as I had a hard time figuring out what I was looking the first time seeing this image. Attachments:

I hope it's the same size range as their DLX and Robo-Dou series. Those have had a great price- content ratio.

But can't tell if that is just some guy or actual ThreeZero employee. But from the look of it, it might be bigger. Wouldn't be surprised if it is 15-16 inches tall.

Thanks for letting me know mpchi, I didn't get a notification that there had been a reply on FB for some reason. I can definitely see this being in the larger size range, so I guess we'll find out in a day or two.

For those - like myself - who have no clue who Takayuki Takeya is, he is mostly known as a designer behind some Kamen series/movies and the S.I.C. figures line. That explains the scaly insectoid looks on that Ideon.
Just repeating what I found on a wiki page, so feel free to jump if the info is wrong or if there's anything important (or even just mildly interesting) to add.
That said, I'm not interested in this one in particular, but I hope it's successful enough that they'll make more with different IP-designer matchups.

I like this. Maybe it was a good thing I couldn't get the DX Voltes.

This is a must for me. Want it even more than the DX Voltes...a lot more. Has been a Takeya fan for a long time since the beginning of the SIC line late 90s and his sculptures articles in HobbyJapan. Collected his stuff on and off, but this one really hits home for me, as Ideon is among my top favorite super robots from the 80s. Upon reading his article, he shared the same mentality that the original Ideon design is less of a relic left behind by the 6th Civilization, but more of a product of early 80s animation where everything is simplified and given bright colors (and a GM head ). So I totally buy his take on this sculpt. Pairing his artistry with Threezero's weathering on this, it is like marrying the best of a few worlds into one. Ideon will be bought, no matter the cost.

For some odd reason, this version reminds me of Jar Jar Binks.

Wasn't Ideon designed the way it was because Tomino gave a false pitch to the studio in order to get funding?

Haha. While interesting, I don't know if it was that dramatic. Afterall, Ideon is not Tomino's first show to get very serious plot and "kill them all". Would be pretty ignorant if the studio execs hired him to direct the project, without knowing what they are getting into. Its a fun read. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep an eye on related info if I ever come across any, see if it really went down that way.

The manga is intentionally over dramatic, but there are supposed to be nuggets of truth in it.
