For those really interested, expect a heart attack....heard the price is going to be US$ 999... Maybe I should stick with the DX Voltes 😳 Still, it has a good die-cast frame.

That is an impressive diecast frame, especially in its size. Might be very heavy. One more pic found on Toysdaily.

The only reason I could think of as to why this could be double the price of the Premium series is if it came with the wave cannon.

Though from the look of things, I doubted the Ideon Gun is part of the deal, since the concept is to not follow the anime designs too closely. Even the Glen Cannons (aka crotch guns ) and the missile pods openings are all gone from the sculpt. But who knows. It does seem like they preserved the Ideon Sword, since some pics shows the wrists light up, might be just lights though, no effects parts to put on the hand. Eagerly waiting for preorder and more info.

Some interesting tidbits got out of a ToysTV conversation. Turn out this was not the first 'crazy stylization' that Ideon had. Many years ago, around the late 80s, Makoto Kobayashi (a mentor of Takeya at one point) did a very crazy design for the Ideon novels. Takeya helped on modeling this design, as he was mentioning it in his 'making of' article. So this is what that looks like! The design is really out of this world, and very alien and organic. Compare to this, Takeya's new design already toned down a lot. But I think partly because he and Kobayashi worked on Ideon together many years ago, he felt more inclined to take the job, and revisiting Ideon one more time with his own take this time. A few more updated sketches from Kobayashi: Like the guys from ToysTV said, you may see this as just another overpriced & oversized toy, but it has a lot of history and artistry that leads to its existence, and something like this doesn't come along very often.

Guess this was the starting point of Threezero's Ideon, before they managed to get Takeya onboard. It was from 2016, a 1/200 Ideon prototype.

Getting directly from Threezero store is much cheaper. No tax, and only $20 for shipping to US. HLJ has a $170 higher price, and add another $100-200 for DHL.

Well, I bit the bullet. Had to cancel DX Voltes but this speaks to me more. And I agree with mpchi in that it makes no sense to buy from anywhere other than ThreeZero since both the figure and shipping are much cheaper. While we may be the minority, I would have done the same if I have to choose one over the other. In a way, DX Voltes is just a bigger SOC GX-31 with more refinements and light & sound gimmick. More sturdy too with a more solid ankle and hip joint that some GX-31 has issues with. But the overall experience is not too different, aside the initial hype playing with the sound gimmick and combination the first few times. It was fun and does cater well to the SOC collector within us. Ideon on the other hand offers something very fresh and different, an awe inspiring sculpt and finish, and a bigger piece unlike anything we had or seen. That's what I like about the S.I.C. line back then, reimagining something we love to be even cooler and more 'realistic'. Like how would the show play out if everything is darker and with this particular design? And it has lights too LOL. I really hope Threezero doesn't flop on the joints design and overall execution. This thing needs a lot of sturdy joints for its size & weight, preferably a bunch of nice ratchets. While not necessary a big money making project, I hope they do something extraordinary on this just to boost their reputation and wow the toy industry.

This is a prestige project for then so I'm confident their engineers figured out how to handle the joints. Wouldn't want it to self destruct like the SOC Ideon.

My SOC Ideon seem ok so far, the shoulder joints (which is really similar to DX Voltes', but thinner) haven't self destruct yet. But the hip joints gave in long ago, too loose to support the heavy guy, flopping forward or back whenever I try to hold and pose it. Can only do a static A stance leaning the back wall of the cabinet this whole time. If only those hips were ratchets....
