Received my R-1 a couple of days ago and just had a chance to mess around with it. Initial thoughts: -the box is huge. Unnecessarily big for a figure this size. -joints are nice and tight -it is more posable than I thought -the parts-forming works well in this case. Not too fiddly -paint is great, and the gunmetal paint on the bottom of the feet was a great touch -instructions for putting the shield into plane node was missing some steps

Thanks for sharing, glad to see it scales well with the SRC Alt Eisen. Hope the other R units will be built good. Gold

I don't have this figure preordered, but for so many years on Robot Japan, I always saw people posting their hopes for an SRX release by Bandai during every year we were awaiting for new SOC announcements.
I haven't seen the anime or anything, but this character just looks outright amazing to me. I may give into the darkside and PO. I see its still available at Amiami.

That's the thing about a lot of Sentinel's releases. They are readily available with no need to rush to PO. Most even safe enough to wait for actual reviews before pulling the trigger. It is nice to see R1 scale nice with SRC Alteisen. Guess I'll have to dig it up from storage when SRX releases.

I would say R1 is just a touch too big for SRC Altessien, but it still works.

R2, as well as combination of the top half of SRX. From the commentary, it is positive with parts locking together pretty sturdy. But upon viewing, I have to say I am a bit disappointed on the combination process with so much disassembling required. It wasn't any better than R1's fighter mode. You have to pull off all the limbs, armors, and then some (a lot actually). I can already tell that it is not something enjoyable to transform back & forth, and might just combine once and leave it in display for good. Oh well...
I wish it was as clean as the CG. I am quite familiar with the combination since they first showed it in SRW many years ago when I played it, and I expected a lot of folding, and some disassembly. But not to this degree. Wish it was better executed.

Totally agree with you Mpchi. It is a cool figure but not a fun one. I don't enjoy overcomplicated transformations (I love sentai toys for they simplicity for example). This is a figure to combine and leave it there... to bad cause SRX has a lot of fun potential...

I like this figure. But I really hate the pegs behind the shoulders that bump into the arms if they go too far up or down. Mine had paint rub out of box

I'm usually not into modern era robots outside of the 1970's and 1980's, but I've always been fascinated by SRX. I'm planning on watching some of the Super Robot Wars OG animes to be further invested with SRX. Have any of you watched SRW OG: The Animation (2005), Divine Wars (2006), and/or The Inspector (2010)?
I ended up preordering this bad boy.

I ended up preordering this bad boy. I have watched most of it. The story I like (I played the games, where they originally came from), but the animation is just ok. Not bad, but not super great. Also, sometimes the anime seem super fast pace and you don't get as much build up or drama from the game, though could be because I already know the plot beforehand so there is no more element of surprises for me. But my impression on the SRX was stronger from the games than the anime.

I'm wondering if I should order through d4toys or just go with one of the American retailers like The Chosen Prime or TF Source. If I were to order from d4toys and ship to America, would it still be cheaper overall versus the American retailers?

There might be emulators that can play unofficially translated games in English sub, but the ones where SRX debut are pretty old. If you want pure OG (Original Generations, meaning only original characters, no Mazingers, Getters, Gundams...etc.), there is a SRW OG & OGS PS2 remake (originally on Gameboy Advance). The latest SRW30 has SRX and a few other OG gang in it, fully English sub on Steam or import Japanese ver. on PS or Switch has English sub. But you won't get much of the OG story in that title. D4Toys usually about break even, due to lower price but higher shipping rate vs. higher price + tax in US shops. D4Toys do get stuff pretty early, since they are sort of the official/partner shop of Sentinel.

If I were to order from d4toys and ship to America, would it still be cheaper overall versus the American retailers? Oh, just thought of 1 title. If you don't want to deal with any emulators and has a PS4, there is SRW OG: Moon Dwellers. It won't have the SRX main storyline, as that is already in the past, but the SRX team is there as one of the casts, as well as a ton of other cool OG characters and mechs. Moon Dwellers is the first officially translated PS4 title in English sub. The translation can be a little 'stiff' since its their first try. But if you want a SRW OG game with top tier animation and easy to obtain in Eng, Moon Dwellers will be it. It has an English ver. for Asian market (HK, Singapore...etc), which you can probably find on Play-Asia, Amazon, or ebay on a discounted price now (game is like 6 years old). Just make sure its the English ver. you are buying with English "Super Robot Wars" title on the cover. The animation in OG titles are better and more flashy than the main line SRW games (the ones with Mazingers, Getters, Gundams...etc., maybe due to more budget on animators and less spent on anime licenses), and Moon Dwellers is currently the latest chapter of the OG titles. But if you really just interested in the SRX team or the beginning of the OG characters storyline, watching the anime might be the more accessible way to get it.

The SRX Team was also featured in the lastest SRW Game, SRW 30, that is available in the US on Steam. It's pretty good. I recommend it.

I'm still deciding where I'm going to preorder my R-Gun from. I wish Amiami would be getting it, but I don't see it on their site. I'm likely going to preorder with The Chosen Prime here in the states. $229.99 shipped.

I ordered the full set from them and I've received R1 and R2 already without any issues with the box. showzstore.com/sentinel-toys-riobot-rgun-powered_p4155.html
