Hello guys this is my review for CCS Shin Getter 1 (better late than never lol)
The figure is actually on the same level of Zero, i thought it would be slightly better but it’s not, don’t get me wrong the figure is legit it just need some tiny improvements which i hope they include in the upcoming Black Version.
For me personally i hate the new packaging system man it’s just too much, can we stick to the old way please.
for the figure it self i like the design, and the face sculpt is way better in person my only issue is with the eyes pupils, when the LEDs are on they are hard to get in photos, the figure have a decent size and decent heft in hand, and the LEDs are just epic, the joint system is great but its lacking in one area (will talk about that later).
the accessories is one of the weakness of the figure, first of the metal rods for the Tomahawk and the Scythe could bend easily so be careful, the weapons holding fists sculpt is very ugly and when attaching the weapons it might get scratched (mine did but it was a clean one inside the fist), the wings are so awesome its bat like wings and looks so menacing exactly what Shin Getter 1 need, I could say it’s the best wings ever made for Shin Getter 1 in size and in sculpt, tho it could be a pain to attach them to the metal rod, but after some hot air it will be much easier to fit, and they will stay there till you pull them out they will slid out as easy, speaking of the metal rod on the back attachment (wings part) the joints looks durable and have a neat mechanism, but almost every company do the same mistake HUGE wings and metal joints that could get loose with time, it MUST be metal ratchet joints that have close clicks, but im not sure about this one they were very tight to move so they might be very durable only time will tell.
The effect parts are super cool the Getter beam and the Stoner Sunshine especially with the LEDs (i noticed something they wrote different batteries size, in the the LED booklet (LR626/AG4) vs (LR621/G1A) in the figure instruction booklet) the right size is the one in the LED booklet (LR626/AG4) to be extra sure you will find two batteries inside one plastic wrapping and they will fit nicely.
joints system, as I told you is great but with one weakens, the feet, they don’t have the side to side motion you need to rotate them so they can go side to side but it’s not a deep motion, also it will hit the leg armor i prefer a regular side to side for more articulation, other than that the joints system is great and I managed to do most of the poses I wanted to do.
the fists (wrist) are not articulated (dont not try to move them) the actual fist rotate yes but they are on a solid plastic rod for the LED effect they included an extra pair of fists to help a little with the motion but it’s a hassle to change the fist in order to get a bit more i wish if they came up with a better system than this. Worth to mention the head is on the same plastic rod but it’s a bit shorter than the fists and has decent movement. im not an engineer so I really don’t know why they didn’t do the same thing for the fists.
Speaking of the LEDs there is some really odd choices here, remember when i praised how epic Zero LEDs system was from the batteries installation to how to active them? In here they didn’t do the same on all of the LEDs
for example you will see some clever hidden on/off button on the figure body on the same hand some LEDs need some parts to be removed completely in order to reach the on/off button which is super annoying if you are taking pictures, no fast easy access i mean they already did it in some parts but felt lazy on the other places? Come on CCS
I really wish if they went with a USB powered LEDs i mean too many batteries is a headache, also if it had a pulsing effect like Zero that would be a very neat touch
For the stand it’s unnecessarily complicated + it’s a huge dust magnet and fingers prints magnet.
And now how this figure compare to the EX Gokin Shin Getter 1?
it’s very hard and very close to compare these two, for me personally i think the EX Gokin Shin Getter 1 is untouchable i mean it came back way in 2011 (first release) and Fewture put everything they got back then into it, it came in a time when the technology and the manufacturing techniques were limited and for that reason i think it still the best, don’t get me wrong CCS did a wonderful job with their take on Shin Getter 1 in term of sculpt gimmick and overall design but they came a bit short and took some odd shortcuts in some areas and for that i give it the 2nd place

Competitors, I don’t think there’s any other Shin Getter 1 that offer what this figure is offering
Overall score is 7.5 out of 10
I highly recommend getting this figure it’s fun to play with and great to look at, it’s a great addition to any collection and a must have for every Shin Getter 1 fan
What do they need to improve? (In order of importance to me)
Side to side motion on the feet
ON/OFF button with an easy access
LED with pulsing effect
Better quality for the fists and the metal rod for the weapons
Thoughts after the review
The figure is so beautiful I found myself looking at it more and the need to play with it even more for sure this will be one of my TOTY candidates
sorry guys no photos (still working on them) + uploading pics to RJ is more annoying than Bandai with the DX Grendizer lol
BUT i have some clips for you
