In this case I think you get what you pay for. Really awesome piece of engineering. That thing is like the wettest dream becoming true...

Its cool for sure. But feels like the tech is still too early for this for a 'perfect' Prime. It still has the signature wonkyness and proportions of these typical electronics/RC type robots (T-28, Scopedog in the past), though much improved.

True, perhaps the technology still isn't 100% there but still a very cool piece of tech. And honestly, thinking about the price compared to some figures out there now it seems almost like a bargain for a 19" self transforming Prime who can talk.

Indeed, the number of parts and servos needed to make it work sounds super impressive.

I pre-ordered one off Hasbro Plus yesterday. Hopefully it's as impressive in person as the videos make it.

My wife and kids thought it was extremely cool. I think it's a fun show-off piece for guests, but visually there are a few things I don't like about it. It is pretty cool though.

Got it preordered through Robosen. This should be a good one to grab. You can also order through Robosen directly with a $100 deposit. I think generally while I may be concerned about some of the current limitations, I think as updates come via the app, and the fact that the hardware itself is pretty complete, this robot in the future will have other motions as well which could only get better. Plus the weight and size is just pretty sizable at 19inch. Despite being At $100 more than Hasbro Pulse, I still think its a good deal...

I know I’ve seen this years ago. Wasn’t impressed then and not impressed now. $700? No way.
Here’s the video from 3 years ago
This same company also made Hound and Scraper. And was selling the Optimus at $200 prior to getting it official license.

Looking at the video, that appears to be very similar to the one just released. But, clearly there has been detail changes to the design (which most likely involves new molds) along with the additional programming as well as voice additions from Peter Cullin along with being an official licensed product which definitely adds cost to the unit.

This looks corny as hell to me. Sorry, I just remember those battery operated robot toys for little kids back in the 80's and 90's, and this OP just feels like that. You cannot articulate any of the limbs here because you will break the gears and mechanisms for the transformation. So you pretty much just watch it transform- and watch it transform back, and drive it around a bit. It's just looks like a toy for <10 year olds. Except it's $700. The hips area where the legs attach, it's just see through. If the MP was designed like that, bunch of collectors would probably sh*t all over it.

This one has plenty of option since you can program your moves so you wont get bored (unless you wan to). If someone wants an articulated or transforming figures there are many options around. This is something completely different... you can go and get an articulated óptimos prime at any store, for almost any price (I have one from mc dlnalds that cost me for 4 bucks, or you can get the last MP for 300...)

The "wow" factor is there but once you get over the gimmicks, it seems meh to me. The price tag? Might be better off buying a couple second hand MP Optimus' with that price.
What happens when it a moving piece no longer moves (gets stuck) or breaks down?

Look at it this way, remember those Omnibot robots from the 80's, Aibo from late 90's, and Robosapien from early 2000's? Kinda the same thing
