Thanks to Zona Hobby for this review. CCG designed a lot the articulation look, that's nice. The Scrander support joint is just a slider for the front tilting... Too bad it is not ratcheted. I just hope the toe articulation will be strong and last in time. On my Getter the toe are a bit loose (just a bit) so I have to poseit with weight more in the talon axis. That's the price to pay for a highly diecast model

After that I'll have to go after zero.

Report from Toysdaily that stock has arrived in HK and some preorders are ready for local pickup. Looks like we'll get this in our hands very soon.

Mine already shipped from ShowZ. Japan will get theirs in stock a little later. BBTS will need to wait for another 2-3 months most likely.

Isn't it produced in Japan? CCSToys is a Chinese company, from Mainland China. So China and Hong Kong will get stock first. Japan needs to import them, for once. Same when Japan shops selling Hot Toys.

Mine arrived late yesterday from ShowZ. Used Express shipping (+$7) and took about 11 days to get here (US, CA). Kudos to ShowZ for really good shipping packaging (a layer of bubble wrap on the toy box, outer shipping box, plastic corner protectors, then plastic bag on top to keep it from getting wet). HOWEVER....that is no match for the Chinese dropkick it suffered. Thanks to the Chinese delivery gorillas, one side of the package suffered a blow so bad, it punctured the bag, punctured the shipping box, cracked a corner protector, and still inflicted this much damage to my CCS box (all crushed and also punctured...). The box, as well as the color sleeve inside with the artwork are ruined, and made it very hard to close the box due to the slip-in flap on that side is all messed up. Express Shipping and the awesome packaging just not strong enough to withstand the wrath of the toy god curse and its Chinese gorillas minions. I haven't got the time to actually check out the figure itself, but at least it doesn't look like the figure and the parts suffered damage. We'll see if I get some QC flaws while at it LOL. Might as well. Come on! HIT ME!!! While my Black Getter box didn't arrive in the best shape, Great Mazinger managed to 1up it in terms of damage. Though you can see the box size difference in the photo, and CCSToys stepped away from using the full styrofoam crate. There is still a layer of styrofoam tray for the main body, but the rest are just clear plastic trays of parts inside the brown box. Gone are the styrofoam crate and the velcro straps.

Yeah I had this on preorder too but haven’t paid for it. Honestly don’t have the time to tinker around with my robots lately.

Ok, got to spend a couple hours on Great Mazinkaiser. Didn't mess with the effects parts and weapons, just the main figure with the wings. First impression, it is really good. But similar to my experience with Zero and Black Getter, there are some odd little flaws and issues here and there to keep it from a 'perfect' release. It is really heavy, very nicely painted (though occasional smudge here and there). It is just a very gorgeous figure with imposing presence. Joints are tight, in some case almost too tight. But all those tight joints help supporting the very heavy big wings on his back (backpack has diecast too). Light gimmick for the main body is simple this time, just a button in front of the neck collar. Press it once, and the eyes and chest glows solid. Press again the lights fade in and out. Press the 3rd time it turns off. Great Mazinkaiser is a character that I want a good gokin for a long time. This release definitely accomplishes that, and then some. And the figure speaks for itself, from photos to unboxing videos. If it looks good there, then it looks just as good in hand.
Now on the negatives, or some issues I found on mine.
- Odd design on the Great Boomerang magnetic connections. The chest (where the batteries are) has 3 circular magnets, forms like a inverted triangle. But the backside of the boomerang only has two contact point. This made the bottom 3rd magnet has no metal contact, causing the top 2 magnets pulling the boomerang too much and cause the boomerang to sit slanted and wobbles, doesn't completely lock in place. Very odd design flaw on this one, as to why they omit the 3 metal contact on the boomerang. I ended up stealing a small piece of magnet stickers from my Diaclone stuff, cut a triangle shape to fit the space, and give that 3rd magnet something to stick onto. Now the boomerang fits the chest a LOT better, with more even magnetic pull on all three magnets, not just the top 2. No longer sit slanted or wobbles.
- Kind of related to the issue above, the 2 ends of the boomerang has very little clearance from the 2 black shoulder armor. Posing the arms can sometimes push the boomerang out of place. While the magnets on the chest are decently strong, if the boomerang got pushed off and disconnect the magnets just once, it is almost a guarantee that the spikes on the boomerang will break from a drop, especially if you have the same wobble I had and without a fix. Be very careful not to dislodge it by accident when posing your arms.
- The toes. Shin Getter has a really good toe design. Even though its toe joints are kind of loose in general (pretty common), the way the toes are shaped and has a unique cut, it locks itself in place as long as the figure is standing on its own weight on a flat surface. Meaning the looser toe joints won't affect the stability of the figure, thanks to gravity. However, Great Mazinkaiser lose that design. The toe joints are tighter here, but due to the weight of the figure, especially with the wings on, the toes keep moving ever so slightly, enough to make the feet not flat, and become unstable at times. End up have to constantly fixing/realigning them toes for a flush ground contact, but keep fixing the toes meaning you keep wearing them down and loosen even more. They don't lock in place by its weight like the Getter's.
- The thigh fins connect with a "C" clip that is not very snug, and end up having those thigh fins sagging more often than you would like.
- Those 2 small tail fins on the big wings (that looks like scythes), one of them fits just fine. The other I couldn't pop it into the socket no matter how hard I tried. Turned out the ball joint on the ends are different in size (when they are meant to be identical). The bigger one won't fit until I sand off a bit of plastic on both sides of the ball. While the one that fits, the ball is not round at all, looked like someone shaved the sides before being painted. Either there was some last minute adjustment or factory inconsistency on those fin parts.
- The connector of the shrunk wing (tiny red backpack) is a pain to get off once you put it on. Connector is plastic instead of metal on the large wing, and it fits way too tight when slotted onto the back of the figure. Make sure you don't break anything trying to get it off. Definitely remove any spikey parts when trying to assemble or disassemble the wings or accessories.
- The big wings are indeed very heavy. Figure needs to lean a bit forward, and can get tricky to find the right ankle angle, as well as messing with the toes to get it perfectly balanced standing without using the display stand. But once you got it, it is rock solid, thanks to the very tight joints all over. To a point it feels like a diecast static statue. Shakes it with one hand, none of the limbs move (nice!). Joints tightness is more consistent on my Great Mazinkaiser than my Black Shin Getter.
- Fingers on the articulated hands tend to be a bit loose this time. Same on both hands of mine.
- Great Mazinkaiser's face only looks good at certain angles, due to the eyes being way too long and too close to the nose/center. Think they should either make it look more traditional (SOC, Metal Build..etc. with the diamond shaped eyes and squarish face) or make it very close to the manga (very angry looking, with a very short nose). The very long oval eyes seem off. The overall head shape is great though. Just the face, especially the eyes.
Overall, with an impression on just the figure itself, it is a great buy. Super awesome actually. But like other CCSToys releases, this one also comes with a few small flaws and annoyance you have to get used to.

Oh, one thing forgot to mention. Great Mazinkaiser has the same clear plastic neck socket design just like Zero due to the eyes light up gimmick (oh no~!). Remember both heads of my Zero cracked at that neck socket? There is a chance Great Mazinkaiser may suffer the same fate and becomes a bobble head. Only time will tell after some months of display. However, putting the head on seems pretty easy with low resistance. Hopefully this means they have tuned the fitment better this time and the neck joint won't stress the clear plastic socket enough to crack it eventually.

Got mine today too - my box also did not arrive in great condition. Mine arrived today as well. Thankfully, my box had minimal dents. The outer package and plastic corner pieces seemed to hold up pretty well.
