I just sold my soul for this. Custom fees gonna be a nightmare. Assuming DHL cost to OZ would be like $200'ish then it just a tad over $1000 threshold. Am I f**ked? Can I ask Amiami to cheat the shipping cost value on paper? This would be my first order over $1K.

Update: Amazon is working for me. 14K yen to ship! With shipping and import deposit it comes to just over $1K CAD. I’m going to “digest” this over coming weeks, but my chances of sticking with this order are less than 50%. It’s two pose+ figures, or many cups of coffee…pick your unit of measurement.

Releasing in the same month as the Riobot SRX and Three Zero Ideon? Sure, that's fine. I just sold my soul for this. Custom fees gonna be a nightmare. Amiami reuse to even send packages to a proxy shipper, so I don't think they'll give a fake value for the item.

Amazon's price is not good, no discount somehow. And their shipping package can be very iffy. Go with the other shops while they are still available.

I think I’ll stick with HLJ, but for info, here’s the Amazon breakdown if I order with them. Keep in mind, for shipping to Canada: Items: ¥75,000 Shipping & Handling ¥13,970 Import Fees Deposit ¥9,750 Order Total ¥98,720 Re: amazon shipping, I remember it was iffy with DX Voltes V, which arrived just in the Bandai shipping box without any other protection.

A bit surprised it was this easy to buy. Even though some places sold out, you still have a few shops to compare to get a slightly better deal, instead of being so cutthroat and need to buy the first available one. DX Voltes went faster than this, I think.
Thought a full size Daikumaryu is a big deal, but even here is somewhat quiet on the forum with just a few of us active. Or did people not knowing today is the PO drop date?

Or did people not knowing today is the PO drop date? I didn’t know it was today; I stumbled online and found your helpful posts! At least for me, the cost hurdle is huge. Partly out of principle, I don’t really want to pay so much $ for a gokin toy, especially if there is any risk at all that it goes for a discount later. Shipping cost is a factor with something so large. And a problem that’s more my own - where am I going to store the giant box? I’ll be very curious to see whether/when it sells out, but I do remember Voltes V DX being available on/off the major sites for at least a week (maybe two?); it didn’t sell out immediately either.

DX Voltes went faster than this, I think. It was sold out at many places but Amiami and Amazon Japan still allowed to preorder until release date, and it was available at stores for a few days afterward. It was only after the first week that people went crazy for the figure, and even then for a couple of weeks there were periods where it could be found.

One more thought -
I’m not sure of the logic of labeling / not labeling this a DX toy, but I would have thought if they wanted to make it appear premium and limited, “DX” branding would be better. A lot of regular SOC releases linger for awhile after release.

A lot of regular SOC releases linger for awhile after release. Bingo. Had they labeled it a DX it would have been sold out everywhere. That is the exact reason why I may skip this one. I am happy with the DX Voltes V. I was one of the lucky ones to get it off BBTS for under 700 bucks

Though its true more US stores sells SOCs, even Sideshow carries it now, so there is always the 2nd chance for possible better deals. But judging from past examples, if BBTS sells it at straight yen to dollar retail, at $750, adding tax would pretty much even out buying from Japan. If the shop adds shipping cost on top, then it will be more expensive.
To me, DX or not makes no difference as I know it is the same toy I plan on buying. Though I guess you guys have a point on the labelling for some.

For what it’s worth - I just received an email from HLJ that includes the following: “…Due to the extremely limited nature of this product, we must ask for your confirmation before your order is processed. Please confirm that you are willing to accept that no cancellations can be accepted on this product, either as a preorder or after payment has been made upon release. If this is acceptable, please reply to the email as confirmation. If we do not receive a reply within 1 week (July 2nd Japan Time), your order will be removed from our system. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to hearing from you soon.” …so maybe this will be quite limited…or maybe HLJ is trying to mitigate inventory risk with last-minute cancellations? Who knows… Anyway, thanks for the early morning chat and see you guys in the forums later.

I placed pre-order on amazon japan and amiami to have it ship to Canada. I know amiami price is lower than Amazon right now. However, price might go lower in Amazon. Amazon gives me a piece of mind when comes to warranty, etc. As for amiami, I don't know the price of shipping yet so it is a guess. I will see who offer better price and cancel one of them at the end.
