Getter Arc opening, fresh off the press. Animation quality doesn't seem high, mostly digital. Wonder how big of a role Dragon, Shin, and Emperor plays in it, and if we will actually see a conclusion of the story since Ken Ishikawa passed away before finishing the manga. That pupil-less head with the big underbite open jaw in the video thumbnail actually looks cool. Wish the toy has a face like that. Always prefer a face without pupil/eyeball on this one. By the looks of the PVs shin will be in flashbacks to the shin getter manga. I doubt they will go beyond the mangas ending. It will probably end up like shin mazinger on a cliffhanger, but at least that means emperor will feature heavily.

Ha, still readily available, with CDJapan & HobbySearch sold out.
I am still struggling whether to get this, leaning a bit on passing. While I can get it now at the current best price (even have discount coupon for it if I choose to), the face sculpt bothers me the most. It doesn't have that big underbite jaw that is very signature of Arc's face, instead we get a very slim face with a pointy chin. No pupil-less eyes (personal preference), and the arm blades arrangement is a bit weird and blunt. The rest of the body is pretty good, but then no clear parts and inner details on all the green parts. All in all, while I can get it decently cheap, it is not ideal. I think if another company is making a Getter Arc, this SOC can be easily beaten. Don't want to have buyer remorse after the hype dies down.

The tamashii page says it includes 3 faces including pupiless and clear green parts tho. The real missing part are the folded in arm blades. Also another company did do arc. Same ones that had a really nice shin dragon planned that never came out

Also, the green clear parts was really hard to tell without reading the text. While not detailed out like some other Getters, I'll take it. Got it US$150 shipped with a store coupon at Nin-nin. I guess I can live with that. I knew about the United Gokin from 2016. It wasn't as refined as the SOC however, regardless there is something on GX-99 not to my liking. (Borrow pics from Gold)

I bet Sentinel can do an awesome Getter Arc. ThreeZero and King Arts can too.
If they can just calm~down with “refinement that is….I’ll go with LEAST “refinement.”

Just don't know if Getter Arc is popular enough for them to touch the license. Sentinel already did the best Shin getter IMO (but I cost as much as two getter arks). Also mpchi they have done getter robo devolution, who was not popular. I suppose after the anime Getter ark will be more popular than devolution. I really hope they go for Neo getter sooner than later... I'm missing it in my collection.

Agree with you... when I got riobot Shin getter I looked for a Neo getter and neither of those was What I was looking for. I like ET but I did not like their Neo getter, aoshima seems better but it looked dated. I would love to see a getter robo zan, talking about uniqueness...

Zan is actually a very good design IMHO. Probably the best "not so canon" Getter design, better than a lot of the canon ones too.
I like the Riobot Getter Devolution Getter 1 design quite a bit, but didn't think it quite fit the rest, as much as I am a big fan of the artist's work. So didn't get the figure, and just collect his Ultraman stuff instead.
Riobot Shin Getter 1 I also considered as the best looking Shin 1 in the market. Love that thing. I would be down for a Riobot Getter Dragon!
Neo I like, but it seems the anime is a waterdowned version of Go (though very enjoyable), so it was harder to get a lot of traction, and hence less toys released. Both the Revoltech Go and Neo looks really cool. Its just that they are so small, the build and materials just doesn't hold up all that well, especially for us gokin lovers.
New Getter, I like the look of the bots, but didn't like the story too much with all the mythology and deity stuff.
Now comes down to Arc, the last Getter. I am almost done reading the manga (couple chapters left). I sort of like it, and still want a nice figure representation of it. But looking at what it has to offer, the animation quality of the trailers and opening, and the very acquired taste robot and character designs...have a feeling this show won't be a big hit, which may lead to less likely we'll see more high end gokin versions of Arc. Hope I am wrong about this.

Yeah he is really cool. New Getter 2 is AMAZING looking.

Just finished the Getter Arc manga, here is my brief impression without much spoiler:
I didn't like the first half that much, as the setup and choices of design are very random and 'amateur', with antagonists adopting Chinese historic characters and costumes, even Chinese looking mechs (but they are not Chinese, but bug aliens) is very odd. Like a bad example of drawing cultural inspiration (the same issue I have with New Getter Robo anime with Japanese mythology and deities). But the Getter Team building aspect is good, which became more significant towards the end. The last 1/3 of the story got good, with no more Chinese mechs in sight (they were more or less forgotten half way through LOL) . Just fighting bugs in time and space with some pretty cool plot twists, and ties in to the still very mysterious Getter Emperor that was prominent in the background of Go and Shin Getter mangas. Unfortunately, we only see a glimpse of the conclusion and sort of ended with an open ending.
Its a good read, aside some odd story choices and iffy mech designs. I still think Go and Shin are the strongest and more cohesive manga entries. But this is a good read, saved especially by the last 1/3 of the story. And unfortunately, the more devil-ish organic design of Getter Arc is really just a random thing with no story context whatsoever. Probably just one day Ken Ishikawa felt like having a Getter look like Devilman fighting Chinese aliens would be cool, and went with it...

I mean it's Ken Ishikawa lol, so chance are the finale was gonna be a conclusion to the Getter story sadly stuff happens. Although I do hope the anime gives a proper conclusion to Arc saga.

Just finished episode one of the anime. It has the same style and feel of New Getter. In fact, I bet it’s the same studio and all. However, they used a combination of animation with 3D mecha and I am not to fond of that style. First episode felt very similar to the first episode of New Getter. Let’s see what happens next. I wonder if the anime is going to finish the story or cut it where the manga ends
