hello guys, since Bandai is celebrating the GX-100, i thought it would be good to see what are the worst SOC in your collections, 1 obviously rule, you must own or have owned the figure in order to make a legit point.
i will start
1. the GX-40R God Mars, this is easily the worst figure in my entire collection, even when it was released way back in 2008 it felt very outdated, the GX-40R was released in 2019 (11 years later) but they didnt even bothered to update the figure just a repaint with some lame accessories, and what made it worst is the fact that most units were loaded with QC's, for me it felt like it was a Toynami more than an SOC so it wins the first spot hands down
2. im sure most of you know its the GX-13R Dancouga, the only reason this figure is not at the first place is its actually a very old release, it was released in 2003, the technology wasn't even to close to what we have now, so i could give it a break, the R version was released in 2017 (14 years later) same mistake nothing did to improve the figure stability or to improve the figure in general, you could see how "vintage" its when you place it next to GX-94 black wing
i really regrets getting those two
3. is the GX-71 Voltron .... lol of course im kidding got your blood boil for a sec huh ? its just that i didn't have a 3rd so i was like lets make a fun one
anyways, would love to hear what the others thinks

The only one I genuinely think is garbage that I own/have owned is Getter Emperor which I keep because I doubt another manga accurate emperor will ever get made. I got lucky on 40R and got one with good qc/unbroken. I just don't like the poppy colors and have yet to hunt down the anime version.

What a great thread.
1.SOC Evangelian….horrific proportion, loose metal on metal joints….the knee joints broken on mine. The WORST SOC I own. I tell you One thing Bandai is not, apologetic. They still PROUDLY display them in events. 2.SOC raideen……wobbly mess that also got broken without too much effort. Tossed mine out.
3. SOC Getter Poseidon….another SOC that’s broken beyond repair. I don’t remember exactly what happened but I am NOT replacing that thing. Bandai needs to remold it, NOT Renew NOT Repaint….REMOLD!!!
Whew, nowlet’saskthenextbro, Bro what are YOUR worst three….?

Getter Poseidon? Egads! I'm curious what it could have been.
I still love mine.
I'm all in for a new version, Dynamic Classics style, but can't see myself ever getting rid of GX-20.

GX-05 Daikumaryu - very weak ratchet legs can't support its own weight, got the knee spikes crooked, fins and bits fall off (the only SOC I super glued parts for good), little Gaiking falls apart a lot.
GX-23 Zambot 3 - not very smart design using part of the vehicle as accessories tray instead of giving you a proper stand to store parts, no gripping hands to hold weapons properly, rendering the weapons useless since the articulated hands can't hold them. Light ratchets on the arms come and go, sometimes they click, sometimes don't. Some tabs on the leg broke off too, though I do like the bot and its chibi/SD mode using the Zambot Ace only.
GX-41 Raideen - Very fiddly for a simple straight forward figure, with those weak accessories falling off or misalign all the time, floppy shoulder pads. Just not fun to handle, even though it looks great.

Nice topic. I own more than 30 socs. I'm happy with most of them, but I'll mention the ones I have trouble with and a disappointment: Gx33r leopardon: came broken in various places just out of the box. No way I could use customer support in my country and seller didn't help. I payed a lot (400usd for it, really wanted it and was afraid of it gotten sold out), I ended getting some love for it but I'm stuck with a broken piece. Gx08-09-11-12MA AKA mazinger girls: the rubber/plastic parts got sticky... love them though. Gx40r god mars: I know it is a re release, but things are a bit too tight, I can't explain how much I sweat to pull it apart after combining, I thought I would break it. Gx78 dragonzord: as a PR/sentai fan this was my biggest disappointment. They missed the opportunity to make it great. After what they did with the megazord and the t rex I expected them to go the extra mile with one of the most beloved zord, but they just make it shiny. It costs twice the legacy one and it is not a great improvement. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, has the right amount of die-cast, but there's almost 0 posability (just as the legacy one). PD: I don't know why everyone hate so much the soc EVA'S. I have five of them, and after them I never bought any other Eva figure (even when I love Evangelion), they look cool, have lots of accessories and scale well with the sh monsterarts and pacific rim stuff.

I don't think the Evas are bad, though I don't think they are great either. They feel pretty complete for what they have to offer back in the days. But like ggg mentioned, the metal joints don't last and they have trouble balance on their own. Mine always have it lean on the stand, and I rarely pose with it because the leg joints are giving. Though by today's standard, they are pretty bulky and the colors not quite anime accurate. I don't dislike them though, but plenty of better options in the market.

Lol, surprised nobody mentioned GX-01 yet Cracked thighs, sticky rubber parts, chest pieces that kept falling off... Aside the cracked thigh, mine is still in very good shape. Still love this thing, regardless looking dated. Like the wings gimmick very much to this day.

The gx-95 is a piece of crap. The antenna came right off when I picked it up. I've never had any other SOC do that... Plus its so flimsy...

Of the 62 SOC that I own, for me one of the weakest releases is GX-56 Bakuryu. The included Zerokage is fine, but Bakuryu just had too many design flaws. The way the transformation is, to how many parts are not clipped or tabbed into place makes it frustrating to handle. Articulation is subpar, esp the elbows in bot mode. I still think it looks interesting and beautiful on display but I didn't have much fun with this figure.
Next up would be GX-01. But looking back, the proportions of many early SOC weren't great. The design shows its age and it feels more like a vintage toy rather than modern.
Lastly, GX-85 King Brachion / Titanus. If I had paid full price for this figure I would be far more upset, but since I got it during the Bluefin clearnce sale, I don't mind it as much since I see it more as an add-on set for GX-72. On its own it doesn't do much, initially overpriced, and didn't offer any improvements over the older Legacy toy.
Some other underwhelming releases: GX-89 Garmillas. It's small, not in scale with the Yamato ship. GX-14, EVA01, -15 EVA02, -17 EVA00. These were kinda cool when they first released, but obviously their proportions and colors are far off from the TV anime.

I suppose this is the right thread to ask. I heard bad things about it, but for those who have it, how bad is the gx42 Kotetsushin? I wanted to get the ET one but prices has gone really up... never thought about the gx42 as an option, but maybe is not that bad...I read you guys.

Is GX-40 and 40R that bad? I was recently thinking about picking one of them up.

Is GX-40 and 40R that bad? I was recently thinking about picking one of them up. As far as I know the original release has no troubles. In the gx40R when you combine it, the arms connection is too tight so many people ripped the connection off or just broke it. Also, I heard there are some paint issues (mine is perfect there)

funny how the thread is named TOP 3 yet you guys brought a full lists

Is GX-40 and 40R that bad? I was recently thinking about picking one of them up. the figure in general suffers from poor engineering in general, the only different between the two is the GX-40 comes with less stuff but almost QCs free, on the other hand the GX40R comes with extra stuff but almost NOT QCs free, man the jet that came with it broke with me only touching it
i dont recommend picking one unless you are ok with all the things we mentioned

My GX-40 Godmars is pretty fine actually. Like it quite a bit and problem free. But it is the first release. The only SOC I double dipped and gifted one to my brother, cause we used to own the big Popy box set.

ReaaAAAAllyyyy ? I love this one: part of my best SOCs... I understand your concern but Renewal were just repaints... Recently Bandai paid some efforts like on Daltanious renewal with box homage, lion head, etc... Worst to me are : NUMBER 1 : EVANGELIONs : poorly jointed; weird proportions. Looks like Myth Cloth 2. Megazord : lazy engineering, poorly articulated. Worth to be toss in an angry kid toy box/shest than displayed on a shelf. -> can be easily replaced by the upcomming Flame Toys version eheh. To be true they shoulded design it like a stage version rather than a regular toy poorly upgraded to mimic SOC treatment. (I still didn't open the Dragon and not shipped yet the huge ugly Bronchiosor-like... Ok I do not like Power Rangers, not only because Sabban killed our cgi movie project but also because Bio Riobo matters the most and should be priority... Not a megazord... 3. Probably the other Power Rangers SOCs...

i could understand if you hate the Megazord but after owning all the 3 i understand why they made it like this, to support the weight when you combine them all together
and i think it own toy of the year way back, its not 10\10 figure but its the best Megazord in the market today

Probably the other Power Rangers SOCs... The problem is QC, I don't think gx40 has bad engineering or design (a bit dated maybe), but the gx40r has very very tight connections, so once combined it's really hard to separate it without breaking (many bros here and in other groups had problems with that so its not an isolated matter, in fact I sweated a lot separating mine) You Really hate the megazord? I collect sentai toys and I found it amazing. One of my most beloved socs. As I mention up here dragonzord is disappointing (and titanus is just titanus, you can blame him for being a big thing with wheels cause that what it is in the show). And well, I guess I'm the only one who love the EVA'S. But I can't defend them... I'll post a picture later 🤣

For me
-Gx-05 - easily the worst, same as Mpchi mentioned, poor ratchets on the Dragon, Gaiking falling apart. Just wow... Bandai should've fired someone for that mess.
-Gx-28 Xabungle - Too small, fragile parts (lol... mine split apart at the torso)
-Gx-23 Zambot - I have no idea what they were thinking when they made the legs. I really wish they would go back and release a better combining version.
