I just love how at long last, Voltron has a wealth of genuinely good high-end options. You want the biggest, baddest combining Voltron that's ever likely to be made? Blitzway has you covered. You want the DX Popy figure updated to match modern standards *and then some?* The SOC's right in your wheelhouse. You want a Voltron that's got the articulation of an action figure while still being a combiner with anime accurate proportions and aesthetics? ThreeZero's happy to help. Variety is truly the spice of life

Variety is truly the spice of life What I don't understand is how profitable for multiple companies to release the same figure in relatively close release window. Good on the consumer side with more options to fit different budgets or needs. But wouldn't that negatively impact the sales, as your offer is not the only current best option available (especially for Threezero being the late comer)? Really don't know how this go down on the business side of things for these companies, but very curious about it.

I feel it's super common in the 3P Transformers scene, big tendency to follow the leader in that bunch! In this case though, I actually feel it was spaced out okay; the SOC came out first, then the Blitzway came along later and now ThreeZero's timed its Voltron to hit when the former is slowly getting harder to find near MSRP (even used) and the latter is still readily available but is built/priced differently enough to attract a separate subset of fans despite being the same character. I do kinda wonder how the aftermarket's going to treat this one when the supply goes dry...

ToysTV has it reviewed, starting at 1h06m mark.
I feel that this Voltron just came out at the wrong time. It has actually done quite a few things right, decently good articulations, and managed to hide the lion legs very well (similar design as 5 Pro's). It just didn't have the wow factor and doesn't necessary look 'perfect' to be the best in the current market. But if I haven't bought the SOC way back, I may consider this as I think this look a little better in sculpt and proportion, though SOC seems more premium (fit & finish, and the touches of chrome, I suppose).Diehard fans will go for the 5 Pro, while more casual fans like myself already got the SOC (being reissued a couple times even if you missed the first round). But looking at the review, it is actually quite nice.

I never pulled the trigger on the toynami version before the SOC version... The Blitzway version was just good enough to warrant purchasing it. But Im not sure just because threezero has better articulation that I would get it... Nevertheless, if it becomes a sale item, I might pick one up...

Did 3zero fix the shoulder not locking into place on this Voltron?

Did 3zero fix the shoulder not locking into place on this Voltron? In this video review by Ultrazilla, he addresses that the shoulder/arm issue has been corrected. (I set the video mark pre-forwarded to the part where he discloses it.)

i agree with you, thing is the paint looks much better in here but i feel it was a last minute call, still good still good
over all i think this figure mixed some of the SOC (about the same sculpt) and some of the 5 pro (articulation and how it hides the lions legs)
for me i really dont know how i feel about it, im very happy with the SOC i still think the SOC is the best overall, i mean its so good that both 5pro and 3zero took some pages of its book, good times to be a Voltron fan

After handling Threezero golion for a few days I've come to the conclusion that what they've accomplish here is a focus that both the SOC and 3Pro had some challenges with in regards to articulation. I love my SOC and 3Pro Golions but neither in hand feels like something (toylike) that I would want to mess around trying out different poses. Been collecting for over 2 decades now and I have come to appreciate figures that can handle some play these days. My SOCs on shelves are played with on occasion, but rarely do I play with them more than two to three times a year being a collectible that I want to proudly display.
My only gripe with Threezero's release is more on refinement I would say, like the leg covers tend to come lose or off as you articulate the figure, ironically there seems to be less waist swivel than SOC (by a smidge), tension joints instead of ratchets so time will decide how the shoulder/arm/hip/knew/ankle joints will hold up and black lion's tail coming off that looks broken in the connector nub when in fact that's really how it looks out of the factory as seen in multiple youtube vides now. For those looking to add this golion to your collection, you can try to wait for a sale as some have said but know that in hand it feels like something you can play with out of the box.
