Just that the price is almost always too high to pay to backtrack anything significant, and some of the highest aftermarket fetching price I've seen compare to their MSRP. I started I little under two years ago, so I got a bit lucky with some of my purchases. The late tax for Diaclone is something I never saw before in any line. You occasionally get your DX Mazingers, but those are few and far between, and in general even if the price increases for an old figure it's never too extreme. With Diaclone there's always a risk that if you skip a figure it will at least double in price next year, if not more, andcnit just for exclusives. I can't believe the prices of Battle Convoy online.

Yeah. DA-65 Battle Convoy is quite ridiculous, going for like 100000yen brand new. Even the Trailer Expansion add-on are going for like 20000yen+ (it is just a freaking plastic box with a lot of holes). Not counting total amount, but just the % climb in value, it can match Metal Structure or DX SOC Mazingers. But late tax aside, I am very glad I got to try it. It is very refreshing, as the appeal of the line is very different from all the other stuff we've been collecting. No anime or show tie-in, all up to your imagination and the nice promo leaflets they came with. No fancy diecast or pristine paint job, just enough for the design with mostly bare plastic. Multiple built-in systems and tabs for you to mix and match parts, and not to mention some very cool 3rd party add-ons you can throw into the mix. Then throw in the toy hunting/backtracking aspect of it, it can keep you looking and entertained in a very different level. I can see why it became so sought after with those crazy prices. And you have to get in and try some before you get it. I was showing it to a coworker friend who collect some Transformers, but Diaclone were just colorful weird looking modern 'Gobots' to him (he actually has the vintage Robot Base in his garage). I felt similar before, thinking while its cool and fun, but just not for me. But Ground Dion became the entry that changes all that.

Yes, they harken back to actually playing with your toys, not just buying a delicate display piece. I love my high-end collection, but many of them do not encourage play, and are limited by the characters released.

For those still on the fence, Mandarake currently has a batch of DA-95 real cheap. Lowest from 36000yen opened, to a few 40000yen brand new. This is the cheapest I've ever seen, when DA-95 Ground Dion usually retail around 50000-55000yen. Go get them legs, now!
