Does anyone else feel like me?... After getting GX-100, I sort of lost interest in continuing to collect the SOC line (I've been a completist, I have GX01 to GX100). I truly wanted the line to end at 100. I don't have room anymore, and it's almost a quarter of a century since I started collecting SOC's--it's kinda getting old, literally Who will inherit my collection (we don't have kids), and should I ever sell my beloved robots? Yeah, these SOC-related existential questions are the quintessential first world problems But you guys are my sounding board. No one around me understands. By the way, finally getting all of the SPEC releases kinda sealed the deal for me. At least I have closure with that line. I now feel like it's pointless to be an SOC completist because there may never be an end to that line. Thanks for listening and please let me know if I'm missing any SPEC releases. I listed what I have above.

I listed what I have above. You can always stop being a completist from here on out, and cherry pick after GX-100. Heck, even venture into other toylines, enjoy different kinds of fun (Diaclone DA-95 Robot Base I recently picked up is so much fun, yet so different, and my first ever Diaclone purchase too, check out my posts there if you will). Unless you are really short on cash or space, I don't see the need of selling any. Those are your completist trophy, keep them and keep enjoying them. But don't let them hold you back on other fun. Be adventurous, try new things, even if it means cutting back on buying to some extend.

Hi mpchi... Thanks for the response. I'm just not into getting SOCs beyond GX-100. Nor am I interested in trying other lines. I feel like GX-100 is the finish line for me. I've completed it... Like being a completist I am planning on getting all of the rare SOCs that I don't already have (anything before GX-101).

holdyourfireal... I now have all of the robots from my childhood via the SOC line--except for Balatack. I'm not familiar with the majority of the SOC releases. I mostly bought them to be a completist. I love them all at a point. I just don't see much point of getting more robots I have no personal connection with.

I respect you have achieve a sense of completition, I'm heading toward the same (since I already own most of the mechas I want, probably will keep collecting gundam MB and GFFMC lines since I want many gundams they havent release yet). Its nice collecting but I feel I must stop at some point.

bocasas... I truly appreciate you letting me know that you were able to relate. Collecting SOCs has just been such a big part of my life that it's weird to let it go. However, when I look at my current, crazy collection (having GX01 to GX100, the rare ones and the SPEC line is a lot!), I just don't get the urge to get more. I think it's my subconscious telling me that I finally have enough. I believe a big part of why I became a SOC completist was because of my childhood. My family couldn't really afford to buy me these robots when I was a kid (I only had one growing up). When I started and up until recently, I wanted to hoard to compensate. Fortunately, I think this therapy is working for me

Fortunately, I think this therapy is working for me I think many of us can relate, especially the part of compensating not having these cool toys as a child. It is what drives a lot of us into collecting. Mix in a bit of nostalgia from the shows or memories (varies from each of us), as well as appreciation of modern toy and robot designs and a decent enough income to afford toys with crazy shipping, you pretty much got most of us here in RJ covered. Just that each of us walks the path a little different. I focus on the fun and aesthetics, you focus on the complete collection. So for me, there is no goal post or end goal. As long as I am still enjoying, I keep collecting, continue finding new fun toylines to experience, if certain things I've been collecting becomes stale.

mpchi... I love the RJ description you wrote above. Yep, that's why I'm sharing how I feel about my SOC collection with you guys, I know you'd be able to relate. We all definitely walk different paths. My collection obsession is definitely shifting to vinyl records. Funny because I was a teen in the 80s and I was so willing to switch to CDs when I had the chance. I resisted the whole vinyl resurgence for years! But now I'm totally hooked and I'm recollecting all of the New Wave music I used to listen to. Yeah, another form of nostalgia
