Thanks for replying! I've seen some figs that I think are bootlegs of this figure, and are about that height... They are all plastic (or at least, that's waht they look like), and are made by "Doll Fashion". Anybody heard of them?

Just treat it as another toy.

I don't care if it's a bootleg or not, I can't afford a metal $70 bucks plus shipping Mazinger figure... I think I'm going to buy this plastic copy, it will do... I think it's a bootleg because I saw a He-Man figure which was of lesser quality, didn't have the Mattel logo and was also made by "Doll Fashion". So, I'm pretty sure it's a bootleg. So, for $10, it's a great Mazinger figure for me...

I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina (I forgot to mention that). I guess it's hard to find SOCs there at a good price. How about you try lurking around ebay sometimes you can get prices... sometimes...

For a Mazinger like that, they can charge something like $150, easy! The Hasbro 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime costs $200 here... Let's just say he doesn't sell like crazy... You also have to think that because of devaluation, you have to multiply that number by three to get the price in local currency... The price I gave for the mazinger figure IS from ebay... I can't afford that, I can't spend that much money on a toy... So, for now anyway, the $10 copy will do.

Devaluation? We here in the Philippines can relate to that. Sometimes on eBay you can find collectors who are selling their SOCs for various reasons (moving out, etc.) and you can snap it up at a good price. Last year, I was able to find the following at eBay: GX-01 Mazinger ($40 + $20 EMS shipping) and GX-02 Great Mazinger (US$55 + US$ 20 EMS shipping). Just be patient... A friend of mine who goes to Japan tells me that you can find some SOCs on sale at ridiculous prices. If you know anyone in Japan (which may be unlikely) that is a good lead.

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone from Japan. The 20th Anniversary Prime I bought cost me around $62.5 with shipping included from the USA. But I bought two (one for me and one for a friend), and I bought a couple of Terminator 3 figures to re-sell here, so my Prime cost me $50. That's still a lot of money for me, but it's a cool toy. If I ever see a good deal on a Mazinger Z (who was very big here when I was a kid, just as big as He-Man), I may buy it, but for now, I think I'm going to have just the copy. I also have the Mazinger Z figure officially made in Argentina in the 80s, it is crap, but has a lot of nostalgic value to me. You can check it out here: webs.enterate.com.ar/Web/Cultura/rooster/Mazinger/Mazinger_Pag_Principal.htm

I actually have the "Mazinger Z Trucho", which is a recent not official release using the old molds. This version is of lesser quality, and doesn't fire its fists, but it's OK I guess.

Yes! Those are the ones I saw! I'll look for them at mercado libre (maybe somebody has a better price), thanks!
PS: I also saw one of the female robots, but I don't remember her name.

OK, if anyone wants one of these, let me know, I can hook you up. I'd sell them at cost, but first I've got a Pathology test next week...

OK, today I found two Mazinger Z figures, one was RESEALED, and the guy asked $9 for it... The other one I saw cost $7, but the figure had chipped paint, so I bought none of them. Anyway, I talked to another guy, and he said that by next Sunday he would get more, and the price would be $7, so next Sunday I'm going to buy one. I'll try to post pics when I have it if anyone is interested.
