Looks nice.
Now, if that Alpha by Aoshima is going to be better than the MPC, I'm in!
If it's in 1/48 scale, it's going to be roughly the size of a 1/55 VF-1. That's already a point for Aoshima over Toynami's version.

Considering my notorious disregard for Toynami (see pretty much any post I've ever made about it), you may all be surprised to hear that I'm having doubts about what Aoshima can do. I have a few of their products but to date they have never made a transforming 'bot (that I'm aware of)... it's always been clunky super-robot affairs with limited poseability up to now. I withhold judgement at this time.

The price (3000 yen) seems remarkably cheap for something the size of a 1\55 valk with die-cast. Doesn't Aoshima usually do model kits?

One might even wonder whether the alphas are in fact transformable but I guess the alternate hands and gun displayed with it would indicate it is transformable.

BUT The question will be are they kits or actual toys??

More on kits, they are basically re-issues of the IMAI kits, only under Aoshima now. Check Rancemeister's link to the HLJ page.

Ooo... Imai kits... those things were... challenging to say the least. I never did finish my Lancer Ride-Armour to my satisfaction (it fell apart at one point during its final assembly and I never got around to putting it back together). Plus it was easily one of my worst paint-jobs ever...

Looking at those pics just reminds me that I've still yet to see an Alpha in Gerwalk mode that looks good to me.
I would have to pass on this. Are there people out there really looking for another Alpha kit? Well, not me anyways.

Plus it was easily one of my worst paint-jobs ever... Reminds me, I've never really finished my Imai alpha kit either. I had initially started with full intentions of giving it a super paint job but realized I had no time (nor patience) and ended up painting all the parts in gun-metal grey. Pretty neat looking.

Man, what a let down! I was ecstatic to read that there were possibly new transformable diecast Legioss toys from Aoshima. Too bad.
