Gonna jump into the fray...
I have noticed somethin' about you Sasha...you have definitely toned down your message, in a good way...heck, nowadays when you talk about Korea you don't seem to froth at the mouth (like me!) so much, which is good. But you can't deny that you *have* said many stupid things in the past, like the rest of us, which will result in some people bashin' ya.
Mazinkaiser, if you read this thread carefully, you won't see a lot of rascism, like, at all. He's merely bringing up a point that a lot of us don't think about. Sure, he may be a little heavy-handed BUT he's not being a prick. Ya gotta chill, mate.
Finally: "You Chogokin buyers maybe have the idea `that a good toy is a good toy' and that's great. But I wonder if there was a choice in where your Chogokins were made, how many of you would opt for the Chinese made version over the Japanese made and why?" I never look at where a toy was made, nor care. There is some awesome stuff made in china, and some terrible stuff made in japan, and vice versa. I very very much doubt a lot of people here actually care where there toy was from, as long as it's good. When it's bad many people want someone to blame, and it's easiest (and stupidest) to blame the manufactor's country.
And Sasha man, the reason that a lot of people don't like korean stuff is because it has a reputation as being bootleg central. What I find confusing is why people think this, since 99% of the time it's easy to see what is bootleg, and what is not. Inferior plastic, bad packaging, goofy packaging, all is easy to see when a toy is listed.
Just tryin' to be the voice of reason here...

Sure, he may be a little heavy-handed BUT he's not being a prick. Ya gotta chill, mate. That's just some of my perspective from living here and seeing things from a different angle other than worshipping Japan or Hollywood. Alex in Seoul There is racism in his type. When Alex is saying that if one watches movies from Hollywood, or buys a SOC from Bandai that is made in China, that said person has no individuality or variety in life. I take that to heart because number one I live 9 miles from Hollywood. What he is saying to me is that the people in the LA area are lemmings that have no culture, no minds of their own, or no individuality. Screw him! That is not the case with me no a lot of friend that I have. For him to throw me in the mix of 'superficial' people pisses me off. He has once again in so many words told me how superior he, and korea are. That is a bunch of crap, and yes racist. Read the line again from alex "my perspective from living here and seeing things from a different angle other than worshipping Japan or Hollywood", how is he NOT trying to convey an elitest attiude, therefore belittling the others who are not seeing it from 'his perspective'...

...I stand corrected. But, even if he does sound a bit pretentious, it's no reason to go into a frothing rage.

...I stand corrected. But, even if he does sound a bit pretentious, it's no reason to go into a frothing rage. You have not seen me 'froth' in rage.......I have shown that once in my life, and it scared me. Alex always justifies his posts by 'standing up for the underdog', well I am justifying mine by standing up for myself and the others on this board who are tired of his pro-korea anti everything else attiude. I don't care if that is his opinion or perception or feeling or whatever, but he does not need to bring his cr4p here and tell us all how we are wrong, uncultured , or simpletons. Alex and I had a bout once before, I believe we resolved that by my apology, or something close there of (I may not have said "I appologise"), but I can not stand by and let him have his rants and not stick up for myself. If he threw a stone at me in person, I'd kick the living cr4p out of him, if he shook hands, I'd give him a hug.....

I, too, am tired of his pro-korea pro-rasicism stance, but I'm MOTHERFUGGIN TIRED OF EVERYBODY FIGHTING!!! Jesus christ, I've been on this board for a year or two, and every f**king time he opens his mouth he manages to piss off people, but I'm f**king tired of it, do you understand? I'm trying to chill people down so I don't have to read these stupid-ass posts with everybody wasting there d**n time fighting'im. There are far more interesting stuff we can talk about, but NO, we all have to fight and bicker amongst ourselves. What the hell is going on, huh? And f**k, when I try to calm people down I might as well poor gas on'em! f**k it, just f**k it!

Maybe the problem isn't the 'rest' of us, but Alex's remarks. I don't care if he has an opinion, as long as he is not belittling others, which he seems to have issues not doing. He ALWAYS has something snide to say. That is the problem, personally I am wondering if his remarks ARE to start fights and get the rest of us in an up roar. He has succeded if that is his intentions. Personally I think ignoring a problem or an issue and hoping it will go away is ignorant. Problems need to be delt with. I don't seem to be the only one on this board that has an issue with something he says from time to time. I think Alex is an intellignet man, but over confidence will be his undoing. Don't get upset, I like your posts here, and I like Alex's posts here, when he is not pissing on another country. Today he pissed on China, Japan, USA, and Canada. If he is fighting for Korea, it would be wiser for him to make allies, not enemies. It's ok friend.

Oh Mazinkaiser, you can read so much hate in my posts because that's what you want to see. Like I've said before just don't read em if they offend you! Gee, you'd think my posts magically drew you to them or something. I like good discussion but you turn em around and make it `Alex versus the world' Good grief. I don't wish to see the world from where you comfortably sit, but you do! That's okay- it's where you're at and I'm not gonna impede your own development but you gotta lay off the personal insults in your arguments. You don't like my posts- great!! You've got an opinion now do smething pro-active and don't read what I write. Its very simple really hey, I stopped specifically reading yours after the one about `Journey' because the content was too mundane for my personal tastes. That's not meant to be offensive- it's where you're at. Now as for you Fugly, it's good that you've stopped spraying filth around but you're still taking offence too easily. The inability to hold competing ideas in your heads simultaneously, means that healthy discussions are precluded under the guise of `I hate all this fighting'. Anyway, I enjoyed the comments of Chen and Ataru in this thread. Why do you guys think that was?

Oh Mazinkaiser, you can read so much hate in my posts because that's what you want to see. HA, you are mislead. The truth of the matter is that I'd like to get along with EVERYONE on this and any other forum I visit. Hate is not what I WANT to see, but rather the idea you are communicating to everyone that reads your post. That is apparent through the many that are tired of your insolence. Like I've said before just don't read em if they offend you! Gee, you'd think my posts magically drew you to them or something. Perhaps that is because we post in the same areas for the most part. I like good discussion but you turn em around and make it `Alex versus the world' Good grief. Exposing truths, reading between the lines in many of your posts is not turning the conversation around regardless of what you think or say. I don't wish to see the world from where you comfortably sit, but you do! That's okay- it's where you're at and I'm not gonna impede your own development but you gotta lay off the personal insults in your arguments. Don't read them, if you don't like them. You don't like my posts- great!! You've got an opinion now do smething pro-active and don't read what I write. Its very simple really hey, I stopped specifically reading yours after the one about `Journey' because the content was too mundane for my personal tastes. That's not meant to be offensive- it's where you're at. The funny thing is that your comments ARE meant to be offensive. Once again, you continue with your tactics. "It's where you're at", that comment is a personal attack on my intellect. You see Alex, you ARE an elitest. I am trying to figure your origin, I am not convinced you are korean, I think you may be european, specifically english...but I may be wrong. Anyway, 'where I'm at' is referring to the level of intelligence I posess, that at least is what I read from your post. You DO place yourself above me in intellect without even knowing who I am. You seem to be heavy into academia, or at least want to be in that part of the world community. I am an under dweller to you, a simpleton, a redneck, a person lacking, and yet you fear me. Telling me that "it's where you are at" is offensive, and foolish words. Anyway, I enjoyed the comments of Chen and Ataru in this thread. Why do you guys think that was? That is an obvious question. Chen and Ataru gave you constructive criticism and solid arguements with toy history and global market reasoning as to why they disagreed with you. I would have liked to participate in that conversation as well, but I saw a deeper more troubling issue, and that being your continued elitest attitude. btw, are you english?

That was a fun post. Okay, I shall indulge you.
I have 3 citizenships. Australian, Israel and New Zealand.
I have now lived in 5 countries.
I live in Korea because it offers a greater variety of work. I have worked as a researcher here on 4 Lonely Planet guides and many different edu book projects. I've had a book on robots published for kids here and have even had some good roles in TV dramas and done a few movies while learning about the Koreas. I see life as a one shot deal- you gotta push yourself to get the most of it.
I could go and live in Japan which I'm often tempted to do when the ugliness of Korea gets to me but, I wouldnt get the same opportunities for varied work- it would be a one job situation based on Japans stagnant economy. There's also Taiwan and even China but the work wouldnt be varied enough in those places as their publishing and entertainment industries are not as concentrated and developed as Korea. Oh, there's also Singapore. A lot of my friends live there for the lifestyle. It's comfortable and clean but, it just doesnt inspire the way the Koreas do. I also use my time here to work on my novel. I want to push the envelope of sci-fi and create original ideas.
So there's some ammo for your `posts'.
******************************************** If you see elitism in my posts, there's nothing I can do about that. Maybe some self-reflection on your behalf; some time to ponder upon the great big world around you perhaps?

Fug, Alex places himself in a place where only highly academic people play. He may infact have a very very high IQ, and he may have deeper understandings of many things political and cultural to his environment. I know people like this, and I am more sad for them then hateful. When one does not give the credit due to another, that one will never understand that person or the life they lead. It is unwise to discount the knowlegde of a foe, or even a friend. Some of his type may be unintentional, and he may see no wrong doing. That is a folly that cause the great to fall or fail. Alex refuses to lose an arguement or a debate, it is critical to his existance that he be always correct, if he admits that he is wrong then he has lost in his world. I respect him and you should too. I should not have called him a name, at that point I have lost my arguement. You can respect someone and still disagree.
I bet he has never had a good beer drinking buddy. Sometimes ya gotta put your feet up and throw back a cold one, sometimes.

Oh Mazinkaiser... You know, I really love good conversations- I love when people bring different views to the table and I love that their experiences may indeed lubricate my own views of life and the world. And I'm happy to admit that I don't know everything and that I'm wrong on occasions because I don't have all the facts- gee...go back and read that thread on toypox pc (that makes me laugh every time I write that now ;D) and you'll see me saying I don't know everything and I don't have all the answers.
I try to write because it's what I love doing. When we read, we are actually feeding our minds...
I just don't wanna read one dimensional posts about toys; maybe some people just wanna read about Go-lions screws and they want to keep it at a simple PC level. It's just funny though that classic anime films like Akira can imagine a facist Japan yet when I write about real facism in Japan many get upset (sigh) {Gee I havent even had the opportunity to rail on the psychotic racist Governor of Tokyo yet}. There should be space on these boards for creative pix and creative writing...sadly the focus here is almost always the 3D image with the exclusion of the story.
I'd like to see robot-Japan become a hub... a place where say...visually impaired people would find something of interest along with culture vultures and just genuinely creative people of all sorts- A place where views can be aired and people can ignore them if they so desire. Lets let toypox pc continue with the vulgarity and the moronicly vindictive `clicky plonk' replies where people tell each other they have killfiled them. RJ can be like a newspaper with different ideas on different pages- if people don't wanna read one writers views, they just don't read em!
And you're not my foe.

That was one of the best reads I have had on any board! I too agree that reading strengthens the mind, feeds it nurtures it, helps to engender imagination and on. I do think that you have a lot to contribute to this forum and people in your daily encounters. I admire incalculably your proficiency in writing. Your words are strong, a lot like the spoken word. The topics you bring up are good for conversation or debate, however one wants to perceive it. We must at some level though keep in mind that not all are here for an education, nor want to be educated. I don't perceive these people as being lacking, but rather keeping their time here more simple. This is a place to get away from the arguing, fighting, and general havoc that goes on in other forums. We all have the common thread that binds us here in our love for robots, specifically asian in mature (i had to modify this post, 'mature' was meant to be 'nature', but the 'N' & 'M' are close together on the keyboard , and I have fat man fingers so my typing can be a bit to be desired at times). I understand that you like the feeding of your mind through interaction with others here, that is an admirable quality that frankly more on this planet need to have. However, please, please try to keep the hurtful comments to a minimum. I know you can, I have seen your writing and you have a gift that demands respect. Respect that gift, and it will feed your mind with more then you could ever imagine possible. I know you are not my foe nor am I yours. We keep each other too close to be. Good day, I am going to sleep now. By the way, names David.. nice to meet you, informally

Hey, don't mean to stress anyone out at all. And I especially don't want to promote hatreds at all.
I think we're all gonna see the topics discussed here become bigger issues over the next few months.
# You know Goldman Sachs (the financial anlysts) said they foresee oil climbing to $100 a barrell over the weekend. When that happens just about all plastic toy production will cease and a few big toy companies are gonna go under.
# The main news item on Japans NHK news just an hour ago was about the way other Asian nations are reacting to Japans new textbooks- even the Japanese are begining to recognise that there's a strange new cultural battle brewing and the way the Chinese have been burning Japanese products over the last 2 days is only going to grow- maybe forcing a rethink for many Japanese companies in China?
I don't believe I drum up hatreds- I think my posts are poignant for the happenings of the times.
I love everyone; just read my posts carefully before getting upset!

Alex in Seoul Im trying NOT to explode myself here BUT... ... Japanese people put untrue history on the textbook, such as killing 300 thousand chinese people during WWII as a "friendly visiting" so the younger japanese kids will not know the TRUE history and their crime, of course chinese and Asian countries will be angry and resist japanese product as a form of resentment... ...
