so i just checked my box and it has 5 chinese/japanese words on it written in gold ink.... so I got the original instead of the re-issue afterall ... cool.
yes it would've help had they made the plastic antennas behind the missle launcher out of harder plastic but on the brigther side its less likely to break.
another annoying thing is putting the two "whisker" antennas right in front of the bridge... what a pain.
but again its well worth it

It's not the gold characters, it's 6 characters underneath the big 3 gold characters. It says Matsumoto Leiji Kantoku. I guess it was taken off because of legal issues over who has the rights.

This is one of those ships that just looks cool. I just found it listed on Toy-Wave at $195 (it's a semi-pre-order as Ken specifically warns that he'll only ship out after 2 weeks)... not quite sure why he won't ship right away though. And get this: it counts as just over 1Kg so shipping won't be particularly expensive.
I'm so very tempted right now... *sigh*...

Don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but I gotta agree with this complaint - HLJ has a habit of using exacting shipping boxes... my Faiz Belt's beautiful black case got crushed corners because of this (and the hard plastic sleeve that Bandai had around it was shattered in that corner too).

Ladies and Genitals, If you are in the So. Cal. area and are interested in scoring an SOP Yamato, I just saw two dealers carrying them at Frank & Sons in the City of Industry. The lower of the two prices was $178; I've bought from this dealer before and he's very cool about dropping the price and not charging tax. It's a nice piece but I was on the hunt for the Arcadia. I found one a few vendors down for $120 (no tax). It's the weathered version w/ knife. I may have to go back though and take another look at the Yamato.

DOH!! I need money I want the ships sooooo bad it hurts, but first I need Gaiking, and Tet 28, and Aphrodai, and the hopefully reissue of GX-04S. Thanks for the heads up JB! JWM and I are at some point going to Frank and Sons, but I am saving my pennies for my HiFi/ Theater rig, and if I go I KNOW I will buy till my bank account is empty.... I think that Bandai puts nicotine into the SOC's they are sooo darn addicting!

Now that Bandai is releasing this do you think there's ANY chance of them releasing more Space Cruiser Yamato ships?
I'm still HOPING for the Andromeda.

Mazinkaiser, if you want the Yamato get it now- there will be far, far more Gaikings available down the road but the Yamato's price will pick up very quickly. I got mine last week and I love it. Yeah, it's mostly plastic, but it's big and full of fragile pieces, and you can really only put it down on it's stand. Even when I'm messing around with the buttons and turrets and compartments I leave it on the stand for those reasons, so weight is not really a big deal. And it *looks* great.
