Black Ox just sorta' ended up in with the order I placed for stuff for my niece and nephew for Christmas. I didn't mean for it to happen. Spirits moved my hand. But this way I get something cool under the Christmas tree. My wife wants a bread machine- feh. What's Christmas without a toy?

well black ox is one hell of a superb robot.. the quality is awesome, e.g. paint, fittings, one of the perfect quality SOC i've bought so far.. it can rival the qualities of a GX-01R and GX-02R, even the GX-07 in it's paint quality... mine has no flaws or scratches, all you have to do is buff it off to mirror shine because it has some mist of oil from the box.. but i'd rather not to wipe it off for i think bandai really intended to put it in for some paint protection.. you can tell that if the plastic that wraps the robots tends to be a little sticky or wetty from the paint surface itself.. that's what you can call mint as in MINT, for the accessories not much.. but the head that lites up is not the one attached to the robot.. it is packed seperately in a blister included in the box.. but i don't intend to play with it not even once.. i've just open it for inspection if there is any flaws but lucky i was and it has nothing... perfectly packed by bandai and now i can sleep tight knowing that everything is okey.. IMHO for quality i'll give it a 10, but for the design and playability i'll give it an 8 but for poseability i'll give it a 9.. gimmicks? just had an eyes that lites up and a spikes on her foot that is spring activated, torso is bendable.. oh and like the tetsujin it has some plastic caps to cover the screws... box(mine) were nearly perfect in shape and can call it C9..

Black ox:
Just got mine Wed. last week. It’s superb. Nice crisp, clean, no-nonsense to the point gokin goodness. I actually like it better than T28 feels heavier too J
I particularly like the spike golfer shoes which retract when you stand the ox down, pretty impressive.

I recieved mine last Saturday and sadly I can't give it the same praise as others here have. Mine came with paint chipping and a major paint flaw on the hip (the plastic is exposed). For me this is the most dissapointing SOC that I have purchased quality-wise. The design is great and the gimmicks are also well thought out but when it came to QC on mine, I think Bandai was asleep. It is really too bad as I was really looking forward to this one aswell. Thank goodness that the Tetsujin was without flaws. Oh well better luck next time I hope. Cheers Update: Well I took him apart over the last few days and repainted the hip front and back. I can happily say it was a success and Black Ox now looks like how he should have from the begining. A smooth black finish. Nothing like a little Duplicolour to make it right.

Sorry to hear about your Ox, No49.
It's troubling to hear a big @ss company like Bandai can miss QC like that. I'll be getting mine as soon as I get my Christmas Bonus this week, hopefully it doesn't have any problems.

Mine is on the way, but I'm going to use some restraint and save it for Christmas. I'll let it get gift wrapped and everything. Anticipation is the best part. JWM

I used SAL [cos I'm a cheap ba$t*rd] from HLJ so my toy should be getting here sometime before or after Christmas so I do have something to look forward to for the holidays.

most of the robot are metal.. 90 to 95% are metal, AFAIK fist are the only plastic.. and the accessories pack in the blister, haven't played that much with my black ox.. wanna keep it mint though
