Posted with permission from Tinng. Doesn't really belong in this section but I can't figure out where this figure should go.

I was told by Tinng that he didn't use the stand for this picture but this was the only pose he could get that it would stand by itself.

Yup, there's already reviews out. Look in the Aquarion poll thread for links to reviews.

I was told by Tinng that he didn't use the stand for this picture but this was the only pose he could get that it would stand by itself. oh my, stability problems, does that bot need braces/stands on other poses? oh well, am still undecided on it anyways. it really looks so transformerish (transformers looking ;D) and more on the skinny side. not like gaogaigar, who is also a transforming robot, but still retains the traditional super robot looks: well proportioned, menacingly awesome aesthetics, cool weapons, the works.

I'm about one step away from lamp_oon ing this thing. It reminds me of one of those programs on Discovery Health Channel where they show you all these horrible siamese twins with the half formed twin sticking out of the healthy baby's back. ...if only his mother hadn't used those experimental drugs. I guess I took that step... JWM And the bad word filter strikes again. you can't type any word with p_o_o_n in it

I like the design and I'm impressed by the engineering but I don't feel it in my heart. Half the time I want this and the other half I'm disgusted it can't even stand on it's own.

Matt Alt has a good write-up over at TBDX. It changed my viewpoint a little, but I still don't like the thing.

I personally like the design and engineering too. It's fairly impressive. But I guess it just can't be helped that it's back-heavy
Me likey... but will be waiting for the Black Version...

The black version is actually the 'Military' use Aquarion. Not sure if the transformation is equivalent to the prototype ones.

The black version is called the kyoukou-gata (assault type). If they come out with it, then maybe, just maybe I'll buy one. (iirc it has a gun that can be used in those 2 other forms besides the main 3, also)

"horrible siamese twins with the half formed twin sticking out of the healthy baby's back", right on bro. they seem ghoulish, ghoulish and high tech mixed together ;D. on the plus side, they have excellent engineering, and so does transformers' ;D.

Here's the money quote from Matt Alt re the Aquarion:
"I suspect years from now, toy designers in Japan will be describing history in terms of "Pre-" and "Post-Aquarion." It feels that significant, that momentous. In terms of complexity the only real contender out there is the Studio Half Eye Getta Robo, but being made out of injection-molded plastic and metal as opposed to resin, the Aquarion is a quantum leap ahead in the sturdiness and durability department.
The big question is how one defines their "play value." Those who enjoy the transformation and combination process in and of itself will think it's the greatest thing ever made. Those who demand that the end result be sturdy and action-figure posable will probably find themselves pounding it against a wall. The robot modes are pretty precarious and back-heavy, which can make it difficult to wrestle them into poses (though it isn't impossible.)
This is a toy with a learning curve."
Every time I read this, the Aquarion looks a little less ridiculous.
