It's all about the retro funk on this one guys. If you have seen and held the original, it will all fall into place. I know a lot of SOC collectors do not have vintage and vice versa. For those that have both and grew up with this stuff, it just works. The diecast rocket-punch arms are perfect! Screw articulation if the toy has the look and feel of a vintage chunk of diecast.

Hello Guys, I'm new to this part of the board. Well I'm spending more time in the Jumbo Machinder part, but I wanted to drop a little word here about the SOC Leopaldon. I'm really happy that Bandai release it, in fact I'm collecting both Jumbo and SOC and one of my target in my collection was to own each JM I have in the SOC version. Putting together the simplicity of a Jumbo and the details of a SOC, it's truly a must for me Some people doesn't really feel familiar with this character but it's a damn cool robot. Here's a pict of the Jumbo version with all his accessories. The fact that it was released as a JM during the late 70's by Popy, is clearly a sign that it was a popular character, so seeing a release of it in a SOC version is absolute joy for me. Well that's it. I know that it's not really a SOC related post, but just wanted to share a different visualisation of this robot and a bit of his history Cheers Mike

Wow! Nice to see the jumbo leopaldon! Old school is superior. Like the popy DX (and ST) it has the name of the robot printed on the body. I really would like the SOCs to have that as well, maybe a sticker you could choose to put on...

Thanks Mike! Welcome! Kewl pic fo sho' The head sculpt is awesome! but sticker markus? ugh...no thanks...even as a kid that stickers on the robot's belly bugged me. That's kinda like the belt buckles with your name on it... it's like...yo, you need something to remind you of your name? lol! It's cool when your 18-21...maybe 21-25...after that...too old for it. Anyhoo..it's cool for the nostaligic robots and should be there for those but not on the new ones. I want them to look as accurate to the show as possible and that's what the SOC line does. and as sketcher says, its nostalgia...I've had the DX when I was a kid...always been a spidey fan and the best part about it for me was that it came with an autographed photo of spidey himself! Man, did I love that...I always wanted that spidey suit after that! Too bad I lost that photo long ago...

[ Toys with hiragana signs only for people 18-25? If you're older than 25, no signs for you! Yeah, really too childish to like the signs if you're older than 21. Just like firing missiles. Only for kids 18-29. Children over 30 prefer non-firing missiles. That's almost adult-like. Toys are for children about 20-30. If you're older than that you are an adult and prefer real toys like cars or motorcycles. Right? These japanese robot-toys are clearly intended for children. Too un-cool for the adults.

Got mine on the weekend! Great deal too, $80 CDN. Wooow. This is the first SoC I've bought both on the spot and without hesitation, and it paid off. It's FUN. I only have the OVA Maz, Boss Borot, Battle Fever, and New Gaiking (who's technically not SoC) so my comparison range is small, but Leopaldon is the first SoC that's possibly going to become a permanent fiddle-fixture at my desk. He's so clean to transform! Doesn't feel fragile in the least, his base holds everything and solidly (if I put little Spidey into the car drawer)...very impressed. I'm very, very happy with this one. Hoping to do a photoshoot of him and Battle Fever, since (I think, please correct me if I'm wrong) they're two landmark Tokusatsu bots. BF Robo being the first Sentai robot, and Leopaldon being the first transforming robot.

At first, I thought Leopaldon was the most ridiculous thing ever, but right now, he's my absolute favorite SOC. I love how solid it feels, the smooth transformation, the weight, the firing fists. And the look of it is brilliant.

I think that hits the nail right on the head ;D Had mine for about a month now and I still can't help messing with him. It just feels more robust (in an old school toy kind of way) than any of the other SOC I've handled. I know the Leopardon design isn't liked by everyone, but for me Bandai really got it right this time.

Ordered mine from Beta Toys with their free shipping offer. I hope I like it. I got it because it was one of the chogokin I wanted from the old Popy catalogs. Not a fan of the Marveler, but I am a fan of firing fists! I like the old-school toys that were FUN to play with. I don't like some of the newer toys that are too fragile and cause excessive anxiety during transformations (worrying about paint chipping or breaking parts). Solid toys that don't have parts falling off during play are okay by me. I even liked Battle Fever because of this. It's also the reason I'm such a fan of CM's Goshogun, a beautifully constructed figure.
