OK, After messing with my Plated version of Danguard Ace from Angolz.com at insane amt of $135.00, I am both happy and upset. However at that amt i just can't complaint and be happy. Nonetheless, here are my opinions.
First of all, this thing is about 11 inches tall.
Diecast? Two part explainations.
Upper body is heavy, I mean his upper body has the most diecast and weight of all my SOCs (maybe as much as Ideon). It feels so heavy on my palm.
So far the only thing i can complain about the upper body are the wrists. It took me forever to take the hands out. So be warned
Lower body - where do I start??? most disappointment...
Diecast - yes both legs are metal but they are so light and hollow. The diecast is so thin comparing to the upper body. You can tell right away those are cheap thin metal. Sometime if not careful placed it will fall due to the heavy top weight of the unit. The joints are too loose and the paints are so cheap.
This may be too hard to explain. I mean it's like water paint where it collects at the bottom of the edges and dried out which leave edge marks.
OK, for transformation, it gave us a pin to connect both legs together so it won't flip all over the place. The problem is the very same hole it uses for, it's the same hole you put your screw hole cover in. So do u put your screw hole cover or leave it for as part of transformation?
Stickers? WTF stickers??? I don't want to put stickers on the unit in order to make it look like what i am suppose to get right? I don't mean just extra decal stickers but some silver linings and edges which is an obosute must have. Instead of where they suppose to paint them, we get stickers instead.
The few goodies. The plated version has better connections for the leg guards, which turns into his weapon, better "wings" connections. I was only comparing them to reg version.

=Lower body - where do I start??? most disappointment... Diecast - yes both legs are metal but they are so light and hollow. The diecast is so thin comparing to the upper body. You can tell right away those are cheap thin metal. Sometime if not careful placed it will fall due to the heavy top weight of the unit. That was also my main beef. If the legs really are diecast, it feels like they're hollow diecast, with brittle plastic joints. There's that plastic "creakiness" you get when you pose him. In fact that's the only reason I didn't vote for Danguard as overall TOTY. It feels just a little bit fragile for a toy of it's size, not like Ideon which feels rock solid. I'll probably vote Danguard for best transforming bot over $150, though. There's some parts-forming, but every entry has that too. Everything else about Danguard Ace I thought was fine. The stickers are a nice option if you want to emulate the old toy (Popy?). I wanted to apply the stickers for the soles/engines but I couldn't find ANY youtube clips where that detail existed! ;D And yeah, it's annoying about the leg connector/screw hole dilemna. They dropped the ball on that one.....

soluntion on screw hole and connector problem.
I was able to push the screw cover deep enough where there is room for the connector picee. you really need to push it hard as the screw hole is deep.

Cool! That's good to know. Danguard Ace has lots of presence in either mode.

Yes the legs are diecast but of course it's not solid metal. It would be way to tail heavy if it was in Satalizer mode, but the joints are fine I've played with my Danguard pretty much non-stop and even dropped him once with no damage. As for the connector piece for in-between the legs you really don't need it, I've never used it plus the connector piece that holds the upper body to the lower body in Satalizer mode holds the legs pretty much in place. My only beef is the wings don't really connect to the cylindrical pieces to well and tend to fall out easily.

it's not perfect, but nonetheless, a solid buy at the discount sale. plated version has the least amt of issue.

I don't know whether I'd necessarily agree with the gripes about the legs, I'd take these over plastic ones any day.
I think its a fantastic buy, be it on sale or not.
I just hate how the chrome smudges so easily, that I'd have to polish it everytime I handle it.
But then again that's as much nitpicking as the hollow leg thing.
I think the stickers are a cool idea.
If you want a DA "vintage" toy style then apply them rather than having yamato release another version i.e. Bandai Voltes.
If you want something that's anime accurate then store the stickers.

So I'm guessing I'm still the only one who ordered the chrome version from Angolz and got one of the other versions?
I like the Danguard, but I still think his arms are disproportioned and his head could've stood to be a smidge bigger. That said, it's still the best representation of the robot available.

I really want to buy the Metallic Version not the Chrome Version but you couldn't get it anymore. So I ended up buying the Chrome from BBTS.
