Can't get the image to load, but it's probably from Shogun Warriors, which was the American release of the early Popy toys and, yes, it was produced by Mattel.

Hi Ed, well i have seen that peice as well...i was not aware mattel made it as well.its something i am going to talk to Matt Alt about. we can try to figure it out for ya. shaxper... its not from the Shogun line, though i wish it were, as it would have been a cool peice to have as a kid. though i think i like it better now, as i like the ugly factor.

I think it was called Zushin after doing some more research...sound right?? Here is a picture of the Takatoku deluxe version. The other on the auction site had more diecast but was smaller and less detailed.... and not made by ??Mattel?? -Ed

Interesting. Kinda' takes you back to the old tin toys. DEFINATELY not a Shogun Warrior then. Honestly, this is way out of my league.
