About that GX-01rb that is selling on ebay for around 1500$-1600$, why is it that there is only one seller that is selling it? The last two auction for that item was sold by the same person and he used the same exact pictures and listings. Does he have more than one for sale? Kinda risky to me, even though he has a perfect ebay rating. Don't know why the GX-01rb sells and have a value of 1500$. Is it limited? What was the original MSRP on it? If anything, 1500$ buys you a repaint of the GX-01R that comes with a nice black box. Oh, and the DVD's.

Well i don't care too much for what you don't care, i just care that when i resell it again i will cost more, at least double for what i paid and i'll be getting a few new socs, i was just asking for opinions if to buy it or not. I don't want to use a damm spray thats really dumb only if it was home made. Hey Lancer, I wasn't directing my comments against you or anyone else.. It's just that the gx-01rb is overvalued IMHO. I was just expressing my general angst at the whole "collectible" market. Yes, spray painting a $70 gx-01r is dumb, but a gx-01rb valued at $1500 is even dumber. That's just my opinion. I'm not even saying that buying one is dumb. Anyone can buy whatever they want.

Tan, Aren't the fingers of the Ryouma Getter articulated? Recca's review says that the articulation on the fingers help a lot with the grip on the Tomahawk. If you haven't tried that, you may want to.

I really like the designs of this line and I was an eager collector of the Fewture Mazinger AD-1901 toys. I have original and black Mazinger, the silver and gold Aflodai, and Garada.
I became less of a fan of this Fewture line the minute I realized that all the joints tended to get loose and/or actually break. Lots of stuff is press fitted and gets very loose over time. Other stuff sticks and barely moves at all, and if it wasn't for the give in the plastic you wouldn't be able to get certain stuff to open, etc. So in every way that becomes annoying the tolerances are either too loose or too tight - and that's just not that good for toys in the $50 MSRP range. My only relief came in that I picked up all 4 toys for somewhere around $80-100 USD, with only one of the toys being used.
I place the new Black Getter in the same line stylistically as the other Mazinger AD-1901 designs.
So if anyone wants to answer these questions: what is the quality control like for the Black Getter? I have read where the paint job is nice, but how about those joints? Too loose? Too tight?
Does anyone know if the Black Getter might be reissued as an all plastic toy? The sticking point for me has been quality control and price - going from plastic toys at MSRP $50 USD to nearly all metal at MSRP $350+ USD is just crazy. I can't justify that expense based on my experience with the rest of the Mazinger AD-1901 line.
Any helpful feedback would be greatly appreciated. I love the way Black Getter looks standing next to Mazinger AD-1901, but I just keep shaking my head "No." And wasn't this toy actually delayed because of quality control issues?
BTW, Lego is made of ABS plastic and they also have a ratcheting style "click-hinge" for their toys. Guess what? Those hinges are just ABS plastic and wear out over time. Not cool. But more especially not cool in a toy that's very heavily made of metal and where you haven't got a supply of extra joints besides. I predict bad things for the Fewture Black Getters joint-wise. It just doesn't make sense, and I have those other AD-1901 toys still flopping around in a drawer.

Read Recca's review here: www.plamowarrior.comI believe it states how nice and 'clickety' the joints are. Even the fingers are articulated. At this time, it's diecast. No info if it will be re-issued later with all plastic materials. Wait for the Getter set through. There are some indications that these will be all plastic. Hopefully not as craptastic as the 1901 series.

I've had my Black Getter for about 8 hours now, which is long enough for me to test drive it and give it the full inspection, so here we go.
Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that I'm going to evaluate this based upon the fact that it is a $350 plus dollar figure. So if it sounds like I'm being nitpicky or overlly critical at times, it's because I'm evaluating Black Getter's quality relative to its' price. All IMHO of course.
Ok, so quality first. The pieces that connect to the main body seem to fit snug. Most of the pieces that attach to the main body do so with a peg sliding into a hole type of system which includes the cape, the chest and torso pieces (both metal), the forearm blade weapon, and all the round symbols that attach onto the back (also metal). I guess I'm just pointing out that these pieces don't *snap* on, they slide in..
I would have liked the chest piece to connect more easily and fit a little more deep into the socket, but it doesn't seem to be in danger of falling off.
The claw and the tomahawk are somewhat loose, but they don't seem to be in danger or falling off either.
Joints are tight. Ratchet joints are located in the major arm and leg areas. Ball joints in the torso and head. The ratchet joints are good, tight and clicky, but are an abs plastic ratchet system that probably will wear eventually. I would have to say that I like the feel of the Max Factory ratchets better because of the smoothness, which at least makes it seem like their ratchets would wear longer. With certain areas of the Black Getter's joints, the point of the rotation seems fairly rough. This makes it tight without a doubt, but it could mean quicker wear also.
A minor complaint with articulation is that I wish the heel section on the foot swiveled up and down and not just side to side. The front of the foot does swivel up and down, so most any pose can be achieved, but it would be easier to balance if the back of the feet worked on both axis instead of just swiveling side to side. It's a little odd compared to how the feet work on most other figures.
Production is nice, but not perfect. On both of the biceps you can see very obvious flash where the pieces were clipped from an injection mould sprue. There are also a couple of other minor areas that I would rather not try to describe where the mould wasn't perfectly produced.
Paint is good.
Aesthetics. This is where Black Getter Ryoma shines of course, and what else can be said that hasn't already been said. He's big, he looks tough, he's heavy, and all around a fantastic new entry into the major leagues of gokin. He's certainly an impressive looking figure and has Fewture's trademark design flair.
My impression is that Fewture really wanted the Black Getter Ryoma to make a statement reflecting their design ability in a high end production. I think the Black Getter Ryoma achieves what they probably wanted by bringing some credit to their company. There are some minor imperfections in the Black Getter Ryoma for a $350 figure, but he is a high quality production and a beautiful piece ready to reign terror and kick some butt on the robot battlefield.

Hopefully not as craptastic as the 1901 series. Just to clarify a bit on the review. The fingers are molded together in one piece. The fingers are attatched to the rest of the hand at the knuckle by a single hinge/joint so that when you move the fingers they move together. They are'nt individually articulated. This is actually a good thing IMO because rather than having to adjust several individual joints ( like, say, Fewturs Maz1901 fig) it's a lot less wear and tear on the actual joint, keeping the grip of the hand nice and tight. About the axe. There is a male peg on the handle of the axe and a female indentation on the palm. Just place the peg on the handle into the indent on the palm and close the fingers and the axe should stay firmly in the hand. It is possible, however, that on some units, the knuckle joint on the hand may be loose, but I suppose that is why Fewture engineered the axe and the palm the way it did. Keep in mind though, the more you play with any action figure, the more the potential is for joints to become worn and loosen up. But you knew that! ;D Sorry for any confusion, peeps! Hope this helps. I know xiombarg just received his so, I'm sure he'll be able to provide some additional insigts! X, I hope you're enjoing the new 'bot. Heavy right!? But pretty nice figure. EDIT: Yeah, I totally agree about that ankle joints. Totally cuts back on the amount of the posability. But, ah well! Still a great figure and a really minor thing in the scheme of it all.

You guys are very lucky to own one! I just have one question, does it "feel" like a toy that costs $350.00+ or is the high price due to limited availability and the fact that this is Fewture's first real diecast figure. In other words is this figure, say, five/six times better than say GX-01R.

Joy Division is probably right. MFs GGGG works on a completely different design dynamic. I wouldn't even want to attempt to try and compare these two head to head. They are both top notch figures in their own right. The only reason I brought up MFs GGGG in my review was to compare ratchet joints, and both ratchet systems are good, but I think MFs might be more stable in the long run?
I wouldn't want to compare Black Getter or any newer company's figure to a MaxGokin just because it's obvious that MF has more resources and tons more experience. While it's true that MF only has two MaxGokin figures currently, they've had almost a decade of experience making resin kits and figures. It's almost impossible to find flaws with the MaxGokins imo.
But with that said, there is no need to cut any slack for the Black Getter. He's a excellent figure with only very minor flaws that are barely worth mentioning. There's is nothing about this figure that holds him back from being everything he should be. The design is just beautiful with tons of attention to detail in the sculpt. The quality of his parts and structural engineering is top of the line, and he is heavy as hell.
Chen - That's a tough question because so much of it is aesthetics, but for me I would say yes.

I would compare nothing to the getter as well. It is just very different in look. however, if by content, probably the maxfactory gokins because they feel pretty darn heavy as well...

Xiombarg: Great write-up on the Getter! Any pictures yet?
This is dangerous. I can just now see the light of a zero balance credit card on the horizon. This thing could well mean a return to the darkness of unending toy-debt.
The eleventieth circle of hell is reserved for the toy geeks. Here they wallow in endless anxiety over EMS shipments, e-bay feedback, and the die-cast content of their graven idols.... Dante.
