@howieh: Thanks man, but not yet finished, hehe, got the tip of the pen destroyed. @lord Zarak: As my only guess, in Macross Zero, maybe the one that they are using (VF-0S, SV-51 Ivanov/Nora, VF-0D, VF-0A) are all prototypes. After Zero, the superdimensional fortress series (DYRL), they mass-produced the valkyries so the valkyries became smaller.... you know what I mean. But the UN mass produced the VF-0D and VF-0A, right? Hmmm The prequel always got a special treatment like star wars, devil may cry. etc.

Didn't know exactly why the size difference, but I would imagine the VF-1 is smaller because its more advance, with more compact engines, and makes the fighter a smaller target in combat. Didn't even know about the size until people put up reviews of the VF-0S toy. While I find the construction of the VF-0S a bit less sturdy as the 1/48 VF-1, with some omitted locking pieces and some loose swivels on the arms and legs, it gorgeous, especially in fighter mode. While it does look a bit too advance to be the prototype of the classic VF-1, this toy just look too cool with some very nice touches (turnable pilot seats, magnet fastpacks, fully painted decals & missiles, no spliting thruster inside the feet, more diecast in inner chest, much better retracting nose mechanism). Really starting to love this toy, and I thought I wasn't going to get this months ago, thinking its hard to live up to the classic VF-1. I was quite wrong.

Size comparison between the VF-1 and the VF-0: VF-1x = 14.23m VF-0x = 18.69 m *From the Macross Compendium I haven't picked up mine yet. But I am enjoying the balanced feedback (good and bad) I've been hearing about it. Based from those comments, the VF-0S is a 'it will grow on you' kind of toy. It has it's faults, but you end up loving it more in the end. ;D

Pretty much. End up liking it more than I've anticipated. I happened to be lucky enough to get one without major QC issues and wrong or broken parts. Just some loose swivels that I can get fixed relatively easy. Made me want to go out and just get some more. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for a long time until we get a variation of this. Probably a VF-0A, even better, a VF-0D.

What are some reputable sellers and good prices for the VF-0S? I've seen a price of $184.99 at BBTS. Thanks.

Amenbo.com is pretty good. Cheaper than HLJ sometimes. Just make sure you pick EMS for shipping, because of the huge box size, you won't be saving much on the slower SAL small parcel shipping. www.amenbo.com/cgi-bin/detail/detail-e.cgi
