Thanks for the crash course in Gundam Seed, Koji!
I hardly have time (or budget) to watch the anime, being a new father and all, but I just looove the toys!

Thanks for the crash course in Gundam Seed, Koji! I hardly have time (or budget) to watch the anime, being a new father and all, but I just looove the toys! I understand the problems of being a new parent. Kids do take a lot of energy and resources. I hope you get to watch the series soon. I consider Gundam Seed a worthy successor to the original series.

I'm a new father, too. It sure is A LOT more difficult to watch anime these days. I can't wait until the time I can watch anime with my son. Until then I have to keep my son from getting into the DVD's and munching on dad's toys.

Hmmm, I wonder if I'll ever watch anime with my son (other than some Hayao Miyazaki stuff). Gratuitous nekid shots, ultraviolence... gee listening to myself, I've become some ultraconservative parent! When did that happen?

Don't worry, Miyazaki films are perfect for children.

I have a question re: Gundam Seed... are the Mobile Suit units 'mass produced' (i.e. a whole squad of identical Strike Gundams?) or is there only ONE Strike Gundam piloted by a specific pilot? in japan, just watched seed last week or so finished the series in 2 days, i was so into it damn... lol gona watch it again in a week or so anyways, stirke was made as a proto type, only one, but 2 people poileted stirke and then later a mobile suit was made identical to strike called strike rouge. there are i think 2 comics after seed, and now there workin on a tv sequal called gundam seed: destiny. it starts in sept this year for japan. cant wait! lol

Hmmm...I was in Akihabara yesterday (I come to Tokyo on holiday a few times a year) trolling around some of my favourite stores, saw the preview for the new Seed series on one the monitors in the store. I have to admit I'm a UC purist....and I have not been swayed by all these alternative timeline series which I see as merely exercises in mass marketing - especially given that there is room for a lot more story telling in the UC timeline.
Having said that, the animation is really good and the mecha designs are not bad at all. Personally though, I'm holding out for the Zeta Gundam re-release in early 2005 (this was the first series I "cut my teeth" with in Gundam). There is still tons of cool mecha to be had from the UC universe...picked up a resin Titans "The-O" in 1/100 scale if you can believe it! Absolutely HUGE (and the price was a little steep too but I can always remortgage my house ;D).
