hi guys,
i'm new to gundam painting although i have made and painted car models before. i was wondering what the paint markers are used for? are they used to paint borders and fine details or are they used to large areas? also i've noticed in alot of the box art the paint job has a very nice smooth shadow-like effect on the main panels around the outside of the panels. is this achieved by air birushing or by gundam wethering markers?
thanks

The markers are usually used for detail work and small areas. I never found them particularly useful. The models in the box pictures were airbrushed using what's called the 'Max Technique'. A dark undercoat is applied over the primer, followed by layers of paint that thin out towards the edges. Here's an example: www.geocities.com/quinngundam/maxwhite.htmlHope that helps!

What sort of airbrush are you using? One of the standard metal types, or an Aztek?

I'd at least get a fine detail nozzle, and a larger spray nozzle. they also have special nozzles for acrylics. That's pretty much all you need.
