Just talked with the shop: he says lots of customers had issues with broken wings and he already requested replacements for my wings. No ETA yet.
Really hope the new ones will be different, but I would bet they will be absolutely identical...

Now that I've seen the joint, I probably agree with you...
If Fewture sends me replacement wings without asking for the broken ones, I will probably keep the new wings in the box, and use the repaired ones only! I really hope so...

I have realized that the people who have their wings "Problem Free" are in denial or avoiding to display them with wings Unfortunately you are right... I though it would have been enough to check it in the shop, but even if it does not break the first or second time you move the wings... it will later. This is mine after I moved them (very delicately) for the third time: It's useless to have it checked before shipping, the joints design is totally flawed!!!!!

Unless I'm able to find it for a reasonable price in Rome (so that I'm able to check it before buying), I probably won't risk to have it shipped from Asia... I HAVE been able to find it for a reasonable price in a shop in Rome and I was allowed to check it Minor paint imperfections are there, but nothing unreasonable. The wings are intact but they seem incredibly tight, I'll try to fix them before stressing the joints. I absolutely love the Shin Eagle! The item comes from Action Toys in HK.

At the time God Sigma was dubbed in Italian and was very popular here. Unfortunately the last 2 episodes were never released nor dubbed in Italy, so we never saw the end of the series

Mine has yet to arrive, but judging from this pictures I'm really happy I got it.

Thanks guys At this point, I'm leaning towards skipping this figure: it's beautiful for sure, but too many bad reports on this; the wings is probably the least of all issues, since they can be checked by the seller, and Fewture is ready to send replacements anyway, but at this price point I cannot accept weak or misaligned joints, or paint defects! Unless I'm able to find it for a reasonable price in Rome (so that I'm able to check it before buying), I probably won't risk to have it shipped from Asia... Below is the a rough translation of the review from the first Italian collector on forums who received the Shin (published on Metal Robot), it seems interesting: "Box: same dimensions as silver Mazinger, just thicker, about the double. No problems with the wings, buy they need to be handled very carefully, especialy in the back joint. The joints seem very weak. Stability is not good, you need to use very low poses with open legs, in order to lower the center of mass. I had no problems with QC, but the worst thing of all is that you have the impression of a plastic sketelon with diecast pieces glued on; the uglier things are the knee pads: they are supposed to have the same color as the shoulders, but they are much more opaque and without the same shine. Arms are all plastic from shoulders to elbows, and the sculpt is not good. At the end of the day, a good piece, but the plastic skeleton is really too exposed, and this means the item doesn't give the same diecast feeling as the old Mazinger 1969."

My motives are pretty simple actually:
1) Since I got major issues with previous EX Gokins, I postponed buying it because I wanted to see if there were flaws before spending money... and it seems it may have been the right choice.
2) I wanted to warn my fellow collectors that alredy bought / preordered the Shin, so that they can check the item before paying for it.

I read the email before you removed it again. Sorry for that: I just wanted to avoid another flame war again for reporting rumors... Anyway, since Fewture has fully confirmed officially what I've been reporting since June 6th (wings being broken just out of the box without ever touching them), I'm posting the mail I removed yesterday from Toy Wave, since it may be useful for whoever wants to buy this Shin: "Yes we notice about that too. If u don't mind we can open the box to check for u and take a photo to prove it is perfect before we ship it out to u. Also we already talk to Fewture, they agree to replace the wing in case it was broken, but it will take about 3 months time. Sounds ok with u? Fewture also told us that HK ver is having better quility then Taiwan and Japan ver, but don't know how true is it? Anyway the one we are selling is HK ver." I don't know if it's true either, but certainly the stock from Singapore seems much better from what's been reported here on RJ.

I just got a translation from a friend for the JP sentence I quoted: "we received news about wings being already broken when opening the box". They attribute this to screws being too tight, errors in packaging and transport.

Toy Wave has decreased the price to $770... they're changing it every 2 hours This reminds me the tech stock market in June 2000, we'll see if the outcome will be the same Can someone provide a better translation for this? 商品開封時に既にウィング部分が破損しているというご報告を受けております (sorry, it seems this board does not accept all JP characters, refer to the web page) I don't understand if they're saying the wing is broken out of the box when opening the product or if they are referring to the opening of the wing itself. Eventually tomorrow I can ask a colleague in JP (I work for the Italian branch of a Japanese company, but my Japanese language is not that good unfortunately).

I think there is very little to add to the information on Fewture's site: tinyurl.com/3g23othSince they talk about "factory production problems by tightening the screws too tight", I wonder if a simple workaround could be to slightly untighten the screws before moving the wings.

Interesting to see Fewture finally acknowledged fully the QC issue!
Since they mention transport, this could also be why the issue was prevalent in Japan and not elsewhere.
I wonder what will happen for items bought after September on the secondary market since, at least in Italy, sellers must provide full warranty for 2 years after purchase for factory defects (and this has been regarded as such by the producer).

I read lots of posts on 2ch where people are complaining about this: it seems the paint on the wings somehow glues the different portions of the wing, so that is no longer possible to move them without breaking the joint.
Could it be they didn't give enough time to let the paint dry before assembling them on some production batches? Otherwise the type of paint they used may be too sticky?

Are you afraid to receive an item with broken parts? If so, why don't you ask a potential seller to open the box, check if the wings are ok? Not particularly about the wings, I don't like it, but they can be checked by the seller and Fewture seems ready to send replacements anyway. I'm a bit more concerned about what Optimus said in the video about some joints...

Just saw your review... it was hard not looking at it while in a meeting at work ;D I think you highlighted perfectly strengths and weaknesses of the model. Congratulations! About me... I'm ever more confused and unsure if I'll buy this or not

Not sure, I just got the pictures from another forum. From the last picture in the previous post, and from the following from a third collector, it seems the wing joint is plastic with a metal screw? Nice to hear from Optimus that the wing seems solid, I'd really like to know how these wings did break and how much force was applied to them...

I agree with that Chen: there is no other better version on the market, and that's why I bought it.
I wouldn't pay premium prices for it anyway; since I'm absolutely convinced Bandai will produce a SoC sooner or later, I would eventually recommend to buy the plastic version.
It's essentially the same, probably even with better stability and playability.
