...Is it possible that they are going to be packaged together? Haha, no. Damn. Well, hope springs eternal. I’d be psyched even if they released a hollow plastic shell describing this Satan Goose character as an add on to Daileon. Sort of like the large scale plastic Spider-Man figure they included with Leopardon back in the day.

What’s going on with the Darth Vader looking figure in that photo? I presume that’s an enemy of Daileon? Is it possible that they are going to be packaged together?

Oh, man! This is major league exciting! Nobody is doing Starzinger revival like they should. So looking forward to this eventual release!

You know, I think Bandai were actually working towards GX-100 with such excitement that they ended up appropriating two unfinished designs (GX-98 and GX-99) just to speed up the inevitable path to the big 100 without missing release numbers in between. These Getter designs are cool and all of that, but really, they’re the realization of relatively unpopular characters in the vast/extended Getter saga. That said, I mean no offense to anyone who feels otherwise. I, for one, just don’t see it. As awesome as GX-100 Daiku Maryu promises to be, I think it really stared as a DX chogokin figure that was ultimately reappropriated to fit into the GX line based on the convenient understanding that GX-27 Gaiking fits the inflated mold of the new Daiku Maryu.

Dudes. Offering a full scale GX-05 is perhaps the ballsiest (most balls) move Bandai could have (and did) make. Nobody is required to buy this - it is pure decadence and a dream realized for super robot fans, myself included. I never thought I’d see a full scale Daiku Maryu in my lifetime. For me, it’s a dream come true. If you’re into the figure, you couldn’t do better than this.

What about AmiAmi? Has anyone in the US received their surface mail Voltes DX yet? Just curious.

So, the armor set comes with the extra VF-1J head (gray visor cowl). I guess that means the head of the VF-1J is interchangeable? Does it pop off? Do the heads of all of the DX valks pop off? Would buying a VF-1S and the GBP armor exclusive allow me to switch the head out and make it look like an armored VF-1J?

I think the only issue AmiAmi has is shipping Voltes because of the included batteries. I’m still waiting for them to ship mine but other items I had on preorder with AmiAmi (Moderoid Gaiking models) shipped immediately and arrived to my doorstep in the US three days after release. Fingers crossed for Gordian.

What do think, Kuma? Is it worth it? I have a deposit down for one but the order hasn’t yet been filled. I was hoping this would be bigger. I’ve had the Maxfactory GGGG version1 for years and I’m worried this Sentinel version is approximately the same size but with better detailing. Very interested to hear your thoughts.

Hey Kuma. Which version is your favorite? SOC, Sentinel, or Pose+?

I really like the look of the Gaiking robot - especially as these recent photos demonstrate a greater depth of color (the photos we saw a few weeks ago looked too light, almost aquamarine). I still can’t get a gauge on how big this set is going to be. I have an unshakable feeling that the robot is going to be, like, 5 or 6 inches tall. Bigger (by far) than GX-05 but smaller (out of scale) with GX-27. I wish they’d show the new Gaiking side by side (back to back?) with GX-27. I recall the first photos featuring what looked like GX-27 along side the DX Daiku Maryu. The two appeared to be in scale but I can’t understand how the Great Space Dragon can possibly be that big for a reasonable ($500 - $600) price. It’d be a bulky 36” long and 18” tall?! Still, super excited for this one.

It looks like it will come with a new version of the Gaiking robot. I wonder if the overall scale has changed? From the earlier photos, I was under the impression that this DX Daiku-Maryu was in scale with GX-27 (it looked like GX-27 was being used as a size reference). This new light blue Gaiking makes me wonder. Interesting. Either way, I’m so excited for this release. Best DX ever.

Argh! I hope they release the Baxinbird as a stand-alone addition for those of us who bought Baxinger the first time around. More specifically, I hope they offer the opportunity to complete the set for suckers like me who missed Baxinger the first time around and gave in to outrageous scalper pricing. Dammit. They do. you can get the Baxinbird on its own, just cost a little more. robotoybase.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5818Nice! Thanks for the link! At $150 for BBird alone, the Baxinger/Baxinbird bundle is actually a steal. Oh, well. At least I’ll be able to complete the set.

Anime Export has it at a decent price - $340 plus shipping. The only drawback is that they require payment up front for pre-orders. I've heard about them for a long time but never used them. Are they a good shop? Any glaring issues? Ami Ami also has it now. www.amiami.com/eng/detail?gcode=FIGURE-119468I’ve never had a bad experience with Anime Export or AmiAmi. I’m in the US and have ordered from both of them periodically over the past ten years, at least. AmiAmi won’t charge you until the item is in stock but, in this instance, Anime Export’s price is still way better.

I guess you’re right - my memory has betrayed me. I just lifted Raideen off the shelf for the first time in long time and couldn’t feel much cold metal surface. The figure has a reasonable heft so there must be something substantial in there behind the plastic plating but, yes, it is not as loaded with obvious metal as my hyperbolic post would’ve indicated. Dammit. Well, regardless, it’s still an awesome sculpt.

Agreed. The Fewture Raideen, in my opinion, is second only to the Ex Getter G trio (and Ex Getter G Armageddon trio by default). Ex Raideen didn’t get a lot of fanfare upon release but I think it’s easily better than Ex Grendizer and the Mazingers. Tons of metal, accessories, a transforming gimmic, and a beautiful sculpt. Glad you like it as much as I do.

The thing I dislike most about N-Y is how they will hold back some preorder stock, and once it is "sold out", relist the item immediately at scalper price and require upfront payment. This feel so shady. I completely agree with this. While the free market allows for shady practice, Nippon Yasan are thoroughly despicable regarding their price gouging at release time. Immediately fluctuating prices from retail sellers is unacceptable.
