Just in case y'all were still on the fence...it's a great purchase....even sweeter now that it's 42% off.
Here's my video review.

It is a great piece, and frankly I don't know why it is on sale already. It sold out during the pre-order of it's initial release, but I guess since the crappy economy has hit everyone in the world pretty hard, the second release of the ANDROMEDA did not do very well...

Well I bit the bullet and ordered one from Ami Ami. After seeing all the reviews of it and the fact that I already have the Yamato, I figured what the heck. Just shipped out today. Hopefully I will see it early next week.

I think you'll like your purchase. Bought two of them myself and haven't regretted it. Well I bit the bullet and ordered one from Ami Ami. Just pick up this baby from post office 15 mins ago. Frist impressions, it is very beautiful. Love the sculpt, size and color(darker than the animation, but I like it). It is the right choice to get it if anyone of you love the design of the ship. However, it feels so light weight for this size of toy. And the shipping box is enormous, I got hit by the custom duties.....

I know I'm pretty much flat broke but I just couldn't resist picking up the Marmit Andromeda on sale from BBTS $262 ....w/ EMS shipping $318CDN !!!.... This is my definitive andromeda (it was just too expensive initially) sculpting, diecast [IMHO] easily trumps GX-58....as for gimmicks well in a piece like this its an after thought. This is going to be my one and only daigokin ! ! ! I'm going to have to take a loan off my son's piggy bank to pull this off Lol ;D If anyone else wants it: www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MAR10004&mode=retail

Good price! Thanks for the heads up!!! ;D However, I don't really like the Marmit version. It seems to lack detail, and to me, diecast content alone doesn't mean it is a great piece. I dunno, maybe the orange paint in the wave gun and engine is what is putting me off. I think I'll pass on the BBTS Marmit Andromeda sale without any regrets. }D

@ Lurk that would look really nice side by side with your Herlock Ship....was it Queen Emeraldas??? Yup, the only problem is that its close to 18 inches so its not going to fit in the place where I put all the ships. Time permitting I might do a mini-review of it when I get it. when I was searching for reviews of it, prior to purchasing, I came up with very few hits. 2-3......there was a sea of reviews for GX-58 though.

Hi!
As a collector who has paid premiums too many times before, i bought the GX-58 yesterday, before i've had the chance to buy GX-57, that i actually want more. I found one for a good price, and the next one would have been $80 more, so "it happened"... :-)
I wanted to ask other owners whether there are any parts of those that stick out, and they look many, that are susceptible to damage, or the stand causing any paint chipping?
Thanks!

Cool to see this thread come up. I have been watching the new Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and thinking about picking it up the GX-57 or GX-58. Prices are still the same. Let you know what i decide.

I am loving my GX-58. Yeah, it has less gimmicks in comparison to the GX-57. However, I like how solid and less delicate this one is.
I'll put the batteries tomorrow and will give feedback about its effects.
Have a nice weekend, everyone.
