More than if you had not posted this LIVE AUCTION, in all probability. [/quote][ Is that a bad thing??? It's just a regular Ebay Auction right?? Apologies if I stepped out of bounds.

The general consensus is just that posting live auctions isn't a good idea, since it tends to only attract more bidders and drive up the price.

Sorry....I did not realize there was a general consensus. I just thought with this being a Jumbo meeting place, others would like a shot at this great item. I would LOVE to have people let me know where I could bid on a piece I need.
Live and learn.....
I will not post another one.

Don't feel bad.You were only trying to help. Some people get all upset over nothing. ::)I for one like knowing whats going on. ;D Well...you know...I've been thinking a LOT about that. I think it's kind of sh*tty to NOT share auctions with fellow collectors....afterall, any given collector has a price that they will give for a piece....IF you get beat out...that's your own choice. I LOVE collecting JM's....and I would love to get the hobby to spread, with increased popularity you have increased possibilities for Jumbo growth. But with hiding in the shadows and a mine, mine, mine attitude....no growth will occur. I kind of got that impression on the old board....like the group was separated between "Newbie" and "Elite" collectors. Sad to see it still seems that way. I don't know anything about creating websites.....BUT if I did, I would love to make a JM site that incouraged sharing of info. swapping, auctions etc. A fun place to attract new collectors. One idea I had was for a "Jumbo Graveyard"....where people could buy or swap from other collectors just random pieces that they need....and arm here, a missile there....etc. I LOVE my Jumbo's....but from a group standard...it just often seems like an isolated hobby. It would be nice to have that losen up a bit.

So you think the best way to grow the hobby is to drive up prices and hurt other collectors chances of winning? That's crazy. Try just starting a conversation. It works just as well.
And if you're accusing me of having a "mine, mine, mine" attitude, I assure you I had no intention of bidding on this. I was however planning on telling a couple others who might have been interested. If anything, I've been accused of telling others about auctions TOO often. If I see something I know someone would want, I pass it on. I just do it discreetly, via PM, IM or email. I don't tell the whole world.
Imagine me saying, "Hey txjumbo, I just found the jumbo you wanted!.....But now i''m gonna go tell everyone else so you have a harder time getting it. Don't thank me. I just like to help!"
Now wouldn't that be silly?

First of all...I NEVER singled anybody out. All I can say is this....telling the board, INCLUDING myself about a Jumbo auction is fair in every sense....I have just as good of shot of getting it as the next guy. An auction is only going to go for as much as you are willing to shell out....so to me it's not an argument.
But like I said....I'm not going to do it anymore....so no sense in beating a dead horse. My second post was just a general overview from being in this hobby for years.
