Just purchased, now the waiting. What's the size? Does it have any articulation? I know I will never find, or be able to afford, an original Popy, so I went with this. Anybody have this guy? How does he stand up to the other Popy jumbos? Thoughts?

21" tall to the head (maybe a bit higher to the sickles) with 6 points of articulation (neck, shoulders, waist, hips). It's a very nice toy for the most part but it's too different from vintage villains and the sickles attach in a pretty crummy way. They fall out easily. But it's a great buy considering it only cost about $50 these days.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like he will fit in with my crew pretty well.

This is how it will look displayed with other Jumbo Machinders. This is how it should looked if U5 had made it right.

I have to say that this little ba$t*rd is really nice looking, well in my opinion. And in fact the first version U5 is the first Machinder I've buy. So for me it all started with him.... I really like this toy, and it's fun but a lot of people who are looking at my collection always point this guy saying that it's the most cool looking.... Well it's a question of taste. But I guess you'll be happy with it.

Damn, I didn't realize just how wide those sickles extended. It seems that you really need a lot of room to display him, unless you hide a good part of the sickles behind other bots.

Thanks for the pics, snowflak. I guess the next question is, how do the sickles actually attach, and, can they be easily modified to mimick the configuration in the second pic?

Thanks for the pics, snowflak. I guess the next question is, how do the sickles actually attach, and, can they be easily modified to mimick the configuration in the second pic? Since I do not want to damage the original, I made one from a piece of arcylic sheet and affix to K7's head with a door knob.

Man, it still makes me cringe seeing those U5 Garadas going for 50 bucks. I remember pre-ordering mine (green version) from Robozone back in the day for like $135 plus shipping. Ahh, had I known. It's still cool.
Snow, that custom sickle job is killer.

I got my green version for US$40 with free postage and almost SHAT. When they were a diamond exclusive the first one I got was AU$380 with postage. I love the one I have now, the stumpy little world-destroying cutey. What's the purple jumbo in the front with the green chest pilot and how much was it? I love jumbos....can't get them here.

Hey whatj, What were the issues you saw with the Unifive Gaiking? I have been considering that piece as well. Got a mini review of the ins-n-outs? Thanks!

Ok let me say that one thing I did like about the Unifive gaiking like the chest rockets.... Well the things I dont like are the arms you cant turn them or they fall off to easy I really dont like the arm design the leg movment makes the body come apart not all the way but still thats not good ...
Also if you are getting him just to display I think it would be fine I had gotten my son one for his birthday and the problems came about with really light play except the arm thats the way that they were made....
Hope this helps ........

Also if you are getting him just to display I think it would be fine I had gotten my son one for his birthday and the problems came about with really light play except the arm thats the way that they were made.... I think that is the key. U5 made these toys to be aimed JUST at JM collectors, so they display well....but do not handle play well. IMHO....the U5 Gaiking is pretty much spot on to Popy's....If a person is looking to have a decent "looking" Gaiking, YET not blow all the money that an original Popy will run you....then you should be very happy with it. I know the plastic they used for the Scramble Dash was awful. Mine cracked the FIRST TIME I snapped it on my mazinger's waist! It was just a hairline crack and still works....but still....just goes to futher show that U5 did not make these guys to be played with.
