How come the usual SOC logo is not printed on the XS-10 Spec L-Gaim box.
This is the disturbing because I don't buy non-SOC robots. I don't stray from the rule...
I may have to discontinue buying SPECs even though I love them.

Do you have a pic? This is surely because it's not a SOC, surely some other brand....

I just checked and I saw SPEC in the upper left portion of the box. This must be a new line for Bandai.

The other SPECs have them like the Evangelions, Dragonar, Black Serena and Layzner. Only the L-Gaim does not have it. I wonder why?

You mean you don't buy AOSHIMA, YAMATO, CM's, Konami, or MAX FACTORY figures just because they are not from the Bandai SOC line? Dude, you are truly missing out on a lot of cool stuff...

Hi themazingerz. Nope, I am not missing out on spending a lot of money. I am happy with my collection: all of the SOC's from GX01 to the most current one--color versions only. Buying the SPEC's and other SOC variations have already violated my rule. Being disciplined in what I buy is part of the fun. Branching out to other brands is just a form of distraction for me. Plus, I only have 2 glass cases. My collection as is looks really crowded already. This is also my personality. Example: most of the music I buy is just from the 4AD label. I have been buying only 4AD music for over 20 years now.

So let me get this straight... you will only buy the figures made by the Bandai SOC line regardless of what the character might be? You do the same with music? Well, to each its own...
I personally buy figures of the characters I like, regardless of which company makes them. For example, Mazinger Z is my favorite character of them all and I was lucky enough that it came out as a Bandai SOC back in 1997. However, I like Mazinkaiser, Godannar, Gurren Lagann, GaoFighGar, GaoGaiGar, Danguard Ace, Voltron (GoLion), Shin Getters, Neo Getters, Gakeen, Patlabor, Baldios, Groixer-X, etc... I would be missing out if I was to wait for Bandai to include them in their SOC line.
There are also a few SOC figures that, in my opinion, should have never been included such as the GX-30 Battle Fever Robo, the GX-32 Gold Lightan, the GX-33 Leopardon, and the GX-37 King Joe. Not that they are sucky robots, but they just don't go well with the likes of Mazinger Z and Voltes V. I am guessing that since they are SOCs you also purchased these?
I guess there is a difference between toy collectors and folks that just like toys...

I see, I like, I buy (if I can afford it). On a personal opinion level, although I have several Mazingers of "whatever" in my gear, whether they're authentic or knockoffs, the character itself is what intrigues me to own him in my hands and behold. I recently thought I'd want only Authentic Bandai stuff, but I realize I'm beginning to enjoy a specimen for what it is regardless of who manufactured it and from where. I appreciate and enjoy my collection much better this way. That's just my own personal thought; to each his/her own. zozo-Magengar

You should only buy the ones you like regardless of manufacturer, and that will save you the most money. The discipline factor is good and all in that you stated you only buy S.O.C. , so why not just stick with only S.O.C. and buy the ones you like. Of course ignore what I just said if you like every S.O.C. character released to date.

If I only buy the robots that I am familiar with then I would only have a handful (Mazinger, Voltes V, Gaiking and Grendizer--animated shows shown in the Philippines when I was a kid). I personally don't like to buy gazillion versions of the same robots (I for one think that the SOC line has way too many Mazinger and Evangelion versions). The fun of collecting from one brand and one line is that they push me to discover new robots. I had no clue about Gunbuster and Dancougar, yet they are two favorite SOC's (even though I am a huge Mazinger fan). I go beyond the robots sometimes and rent or buy the DVDs associated to fully enjoy my newly discovered robots. Plus, I am now into the SPEC line. As I mentioned, I am getting a bit tired of the old school look. I am appreciating the newer robots...
Okay, back to the question... Why do you guys think that Bandai dropped the Soul of Chogokin logo on the L-Gaim box (the previous SPECs had the logo).
Thanks and Happy New Year.

Because it was never part of the SOC main line (just look at the Eva's, two different versions of the same character and there not even the same size) but a sub-line and has enough of a following and products released to stand on it's own now that it doesn't need the SOC logo for recognition to sell product. But your not buying figure because of a logo are you? Because as nice as SPEC's are there not at SOC level, it's the difference between buying a Toyota and a Lexus, the SOC line is the most advance toy line out there while the SPEC line focus more on modern mech, 1980 and on and posability with some features developed from the SOC line. Plus if your waiting for new robots you haven't seen to become SOC's first before you discover them or buy a figure of them your missing out on a lot of great Super Robots not to mention awesome figures which can be equal or even better than SOC's, plus the SOC line has only scratched the surface of Super Robots out there. But anyway it's your money and your choice, just as long as your happy no one should criticize.

Hi Chen. That makes sense. Too bad though because I am beginning to love the SPEC line. Oh well, if the next does not have the SOC logo then I will stop buying that line. Hurrah... More money to save and more room in my over crowded glass shelves--I only have two of them and I don't plan to get more. Money and crowd control at the same time. Love the descipline.
Oh yeah, I do have some not so loved robots outside of my shelves collecting dust: Masterpiece Voltron (what a disappointment), New and old Optimus Primes and an Iron Man. I pay no attention to them but they do serve a purpose. Whenever kids come and want to play with my precious SOC's, I give them these toys. This is where non SOC's will go if I ever acquire them...

Now That's a very good idea there, having "alternate" toys set aside for visitors (kids, unsupervised destructive brats, whatever <LOL>) to handle so they won't mess with the real valued specimens.
As for logos and such... companies change with the times and trends. Logos have always played a part in how products are marketed. Logos are just that, Trademarks and eye-candy. Logos may have significance as an identity thing for their products to stand out (the market's huge out there). Logos sometimes give an indication of a new product line in development or that is already released. ...whatever...
The idea is to refresh marketing strategies everytime to maintain a market's interest. Logos add to that. If a company's marketing strategy were always monotonous, I the consumer would probably not feel enticed to buy the product. (imo)
