I wonder if the global economic climate has pushed re-issues to the forefront in 2009? Bandai with a 'new' SOC Mazinger, Fewture with Getter repaints, etc. Perhaps companies see releasing new figures as a 'risk', and prefer to go with designs/figures that have a proven track record of public acceptance? Good or bad, depending on your position.

There's a manga called Z Mazinger, but that was kind of a weird take. It's actually a new story where mazinger was an ancient Greek god, Zeus i think, discovered a couple of thousand years later during an archaeological excavation, and retrofitted with a pilder so that it can be piloted by Koji. The Z Mazinger design is completely different than what this picture shows.

Z Mazinger comes from Zeus, that's why the Z, the story has nothing to do with what we already know about mazinger, is more mythological, also i heard tetsuya and Duke Fleed will be in this new anime and that the enemies will come from planet fleed, that's the latest news from last week from an italian forum, dont know if it is true but i want to bulieve it.

Agreed, themazingerz: like Jello, there is always room for Mazinger. And if Mazigner did not sell, Bandai would've stop releasing version after version along time ago. (I do wish Bandai would just give Mazinger his own line of toys....BM-01 or, say, MA-01 type of series....and issue more Maz, enemies, etc.)

SOC Mazinger Enemies would be awesome! And there's at least 92 of them to choose from (92 Mazinger episodes)...

I like Mazinger too but I hope that Bandai will give priority to Daitarn 3 & Dygenguar and Aussenseiter. After all there are quite a number of Mazinger products in the market.

He actually says that the series is Mazinger Z and it will contain all the characters presumably from both Great Maz and Mazinger Z, however it's still in early planning phase and no release date, if ever it should be completed, exists as yet. Can anyone please translate what the brochure, posted by Goldorak, further up says?
