ok me and wingseyemd are organizing this fun draw.
Here are some ideas thati thought might be fun.
1) Random objects in your house(non robot related) to be used to create and design your own robot. Ie Coffee Maker + Telephone etc to make your own robot. (as many as you would like.. you can photoshop/collage if you like)
2) take any of your favorite robot and reimagine it as a steampunk design(I think this may have been suggested before) oh if you want to make your own steam punk robot please do! I myself like creating my own robot myself.
3)Take any superhero (non robot character) and make it into a robot. doesn't necessarily mean american comics.. can include gatchaman or henshin human characters etc. (I think this may have been suggested before) or make your own superhero inspired robot.
4) Kaiju monsters.man in Rubber suit (could be treated realistic monster) or really a rubber suit
Any suggestions we'll take as well
to be continued...

Oooh, I like the Steampunk idea. That could produce some pretty nifty results. I'm imagining a steampunk'd Gurren Lagann, and I'm already tempted to grab my pencils and get started. For those not familiar with Steampunk: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk

I am up for whatever, lets get the ball rolling. On the note of Super Heroes and robots. I have some cool Marvel (Magnaverse) of popular characters. They might be good inspiration for a fundraw topic. I have been having a hard time finding the robots from the fantastic four and The Avengers. But the robots sort of had a cool combing element and some had power that represented the character's power/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Mangaverse

that does sound like fun. Keep posting ideas guys... I'd like to put a cap on the ideas... and then have a vote out sometime so people can start drawing.
actually I'd like to expand to more then drawing if people are ok with that. I think those people who know how to edit pictures and photogaphers could have a lot of fun with this as well.

That's not a bad idea. More participants and more variety are almost always a good thing. I'll cast an unofficial vote for Steampunk to be an option in the actual vote. Also, maybe the Steampunk idea could be expanded beyond just Steampunk to a more general re-conceptualizing of a robot in a new cultural context...that way if someone doesn't like the Steampunk aesthetic, they'd still have options to participate. I'm thinking of stuff like Mazinger Z in Elizabethan England, Evangelion in ancient Egypt, Jeeg in Atlantis, whatever random stuff people can cook up . Of course, Steampunk would definitely still be a viable path to choose. That might be a little broad though... **shrug**

I like the steampunk idea, more room for details and other stuff!
As for people who like to edit pics / photography, I think a collaborative work would be great! I mean, combine steampunk art with some fine computer backgrounds or additional details, that would be awesome!
We can also stretch it further to include original line art, plus background, and the final product!
Sound good?

oh yeah of course! I prefer original stuff as well. so that I can include in my portfolio rather then fanart. Oh yes if anyone wants to sculpt or kit bash too... Please feel free. I noticed we have some great sculptors and modelers as well. I think any art should be applied and outside of drawing so we can more participation.
Anyone in interested in maybe Kaiju monsters as well?
i guess I'll let voting begin maybe on the 23rd? I would like to get more participation from members as possible for any themes that they would like to do.

Always up for some Kaiju thrown in the mix. Looks like Steampunk is the popular choice on this round. Not sure I understand the specifics of that concept: Victorian steam trains as the main prototype for the technology, is it?

well doesn't necessarily mean victorian. you can if you would like. But you can go cruder like a old wood stove. But yes a steam powered engine of sorts. If you watch the movie Steamboy... theres a lot of different looking styles. Some more refined.. and some more industrial looking.
I'll be posting a voting on topics next week. I'm swamped with work. Last day on the job MOn.. woohooo! and then I can get the fundraw moving
