I figure might as well start a topic for this one. ;D Cm's Corp is releasing Gaiking, Vulking and Raiking! The 3 units combine to form Gaiking the Great! It's most likely a set with 3 robots included. click to view larger images also included is the Stinger jet to form Sky Gaiking! Based on this group shot, most likely Gaiking the Great will be at least 7-9 inches tall Images courtesy of blog.hobbystock.jp/ and Toysdaily Gold

I wouldn't say CM's quality is so so. Their quality CAN be exceptional (see also: Brave Gokin Sankan Oh, Gyakuten Oh, Gakeen, Goshogun, the Patlabor Ingrams & Griffon). Their consistency, however, is so so. Even when they fail, it's not consistent. Sometimes it's spectacular (Mospeada anything), sometimes it's just ... disappointing (Baldios, Tetsukyojin).
In general, when they get metal involved, they do a bang up job. Their mostly plastic work.... has been more questionable. I think that these will do just fine.

This is a great alternative to the top dollar S.H.E. version. If the final production shots turn out good, count me in for one! And I do agree that CM's quality is kinda hit and miss... but so far their designs are spot on, and this is no exception.

Admittedly, yeah between Bandai, Aoshima, Maxfactory and Fewture, CM's items do tend to be the most fragile, but like the others said, it's hit or miss. Here's hoping Gaiking the Great's a hit. . Also, I've been thinking, with SOC and Brave Gokin, almost all of the more popular Super Robots got an "updated" diecast toy. The only ones I can think of that are missing (not counting Sentai, that's over 30 years of Sentai): -most of the other "Brave" sagas (Wow.. "Brave Gokin" # is at 20-somethings and we only have Gaogaigar and Raijinoh from the Braves). -Dangaioh -Dai-Guard -Dairugger XV -Daltanias -Bismark -Zeorymer -Albegas -Laserion -Mekanda (in diecast) -Most of the SRW OG cast -Shin Getter 3 -Baxinger -Acrobunch -Braiger (in diecast form) -Gravion -God Sigma -Trider G7 -Dann of Thursday (Gun Sword) -RahXephon What else am I missing? There's also -Daikengo -Sasuraiga -The Machine Blaster Robots -Godam -Shin Getter 3
I'd also like to see a diecast Poseidon (from Babel the Second) and Garon (from Tetsuwan Atom), but they weren't the stars of their show.

Out of Gold's list I would be most happy to see these 2:
-Mekanda (in diecast) -Trider G7
I don't care if it is CMs, Yamato, or Bandai that makes it. It would have to be diecast though. The CMs Mekenda that is coming out looks nice, but I'm not going put down that kind of money for a plastic figure.

-Dann of Thursday (Gun Sword) I know it's not diecast, but I strongly recommend Max Factory's Dann. It's gorgeous. Were they making a diecast Dann, I wouldn't want it to be different. We got all three New Getter (Shin 2004) in Revoltech forn, but still have yet to see metal 2 & 3 figures. I don't remember seeing a Getter Robo Go (Go, Sho or Gai) "modern" diecast , either. The closest to it was the Super Getter Robo set, I think. But that one was more like a pure toy (not even sure it had diecast). Not a bad thing for those who collect (real) toys, but not what I'm looking for. Then, out of the japanese archipelago, there is (or isn't, in that context) Megas XLR. Non-japanese and cancelled years ago after only two seasons, chances of getting a Megas gohkin (with Yamato cannon, please!) are slim to none. The only way I see it happening would be with the japanese picking up the license and making it their own, like they did with the Powerpuff Girls. It would be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath. No Big Guy, either. Much like Megas, it's not happening. May I suggest we create a new thread for these checklists / wishlists ? The forum could use a "What's next?" sticky for posts like these. For wishlists or members wondering if a figure of a particular robot exists (not everyone is a living gohkin encyclopedia).

Personally I prefer SOC.Their product have good play value & the prices are reasonable.Fewture's figure are well built but not much play value & are expensive.I think now all the toy manufactor are following Fewture's style to high expensive diecast robots.I think this is a bad sign as we are paying more for things that are the same quality or lower few years back.

Well, CMS already had a template for the Gaiking the Great since they have already released all plastic version that is able to combine.
Seems that they opt to go with the smooth surface instead of bumpy surface on the robots this time, though.

I'm still on the lookout for that Dann Maxfactory figure, none of the local toyshops in the Philippines carried that figure and it totally slipped under my radar (drats!). BTW, here's two more added to the list: -UFO Dai-Apolon -Tobikage (I know there was a modern diecast toy release of this back in 2000-2002, I forgot who released it, was it GigaBrain?) Megas would be awesome, hehe, along with the Zorps ;D Gold

I'm not really feeing the love for the Gaiking as It'll likely run in to the $300's I bought the Most Wanted Deluxe Transforming version and am quite happy with it. All though I do really want that Balatak to go with my Jeeg & Gakeen. Going by CM's track record of producing transforming bots, the Shin getter Dragun will likely be transforming with some parts swaping. If this holds true then my wallet will be so screwed

Gold Actually I believe the Getter Robot Go Deluxe tranforming version had minimal "shreds" of die-casts in it Getter ships' 1 & 3 had die-casts. When it transforms into Getter 1 the chest and hips were die-cast. its about 90% plastic.... its still a great "must have" toy worthy of its own shelf space behind glass. And although it looks more like a cheap toy because of all its gleaming plastic, its sculpting and transformation is top notch and is quite accurate to the anime. In fact, when aoshima's Neo getter came out, I had decided to pursue the Getter robot go instead in Lieu of neo.

Maybe it's just me, but i have yet to see a Shin release that I've liked better than the original. That goes for the Shin Getters, Shin Jeeg, Shin Mazinger, etc. I feel the same way with the Transformers. The G1 transformers were great. The ones in the movies remind me of some Terminator experiment gone wrong. It's almost like the people who try to bring life back to these old robots forget what made them so enjoyable in the first place. I'll get off of my soapbox now. Feel free to flame away... I'm a big boy. ;D

Today's Transformers offer incredible value for the money. Your average $12 movie deluxe oftentimes is more complex and more poseable than most $200+ mechas.

I handled the toy once waaay back in 2002 at a local toycon, I didn't notice the diecast parts. Thanks for the correction. Gold

I was talking more about the look of new robots vs the old school ones. To me they all look the same in the Transformers movie. I had a hard time telling them apart. I remember watching the G1 cartoon and had no issues with that. I guess I'm just more of a purist.
