I was going to post this, this morning, I was trying to dig through the old Aoshima Shin Getter 2 thread but couldn't find it. I ordered the regular one this morning since I didn't have it yet.

Hope you're aware that the "regular one" is still a weathered version. Aoshima never made a "clean" Shin Getter 2... }D

I got the normal (little weather) one too. $55 shipped it too good. the bad news is that now i have to find a shin getter. the going rate for a normal shin getter one is around $140 shipped. i had a shin getter one but i sold it it for $210 before all the reissues.
SO MANY GREAT ROBOT ON DISCOUNT. i guess toy retailers like HLJ are short in cash.

Correct, the repaint doesn't have the extra armor. That was pretty unacceptable at the original price. At the revised price, I think I can overlook it.

Only 300 were made supposedly. I think it looks generic and boring.

Got mine and it almost immediately broke when I tried to open its claw; soft plastic mixed with hardened paint in the joint = a bad combination. Oh well. It's got a permanently glued shut claw now.

Oy! Sorry to hear about that... I'll be really careful with mine.
Thanks for the warning!

Just got my Shin Getter 2 a couple days ago, and I wasn't really impressed, even though shin getter 2 (or any getter 2 robots) is one of my favorite designs. Although the metal content is significant, the figure did not feel solid, and has a hard time standing up. Plastic joints holding up the heavy metal parts also seem to be a disaster waiting to happen, particularly the tiny knee joints... The fit does not seem to be as good as Bandai products - I notice several misalignment and gaps.
Although I did not break the claw as quinjester did on his, the only part of the claw that is movable on mine is the larger part, while the smaller part is stuck fast, probably the same problem with drying paint as on his. Also, the rocket pack feels kinda fragile, and ...cheap.
But at the price that I'm getting him, I really can't complain much.
