Hi, I am a huge fan of the old Starblazers TV series and thus I'm looking to get the SOC Yamato BPX-01. Anybody with opinions on this old model? I saw a review at CollectionDX. I just want other opinions before I decide to buy the ship. Thanks.

Its good. Not much metal, some fragile small antennas, sounds quality is cheap, but the lights are cool. Taito released a "prize" model about the same size that attaches to a Wave Motion Gun trigger. It has lights and sound and it was only about $16 USD: www.hlj.com/product/TAT459274900www.hlj.com/product/TAT459275000If you can find these two, they are a good alternative. }D

For a huge fan of Star Blazers it is a must have, but I would say make sure you don't overpay for it. Like themazingerz said, it does have some definite flaws, but overall it's a really nice display piece. It is very fragile, and the small little antennas scare me, because I feel like I will lose some down the road. I have trouble retracting one of the wings which I heard is fairly common, and the lack of die-cast is very disappointing considering the price (I paid half as much for an Aoshima Arcadia, and that is almost all die-cast. C'mon Bandai!) I do enjoy the sound and light features quite a bit.
Also, like themazingerz mentioned, you might want to track down the Taito "Super Mechanics" version that can be connected to the wave motion gun trigger first. I was able to get both the Yamato & wave motion gun for way cheap, and while not quite as nice and detailed as the BPX-01, it's only slightly smaller, all plastic, but a much more fun and inexpensive alternative. Hope that helps, and keep us posted.

I broke one antenna already, but it is truly an amazing piece. That said, I wish it were as heavy duty as my Arcadia!

I love my SOP Yamato and agree with the statements above.
I paid about $125 for it several years ago and have NO regrets.
I'm still a little sad that Bandai still hasn't announced a SOP Andromeda.

If there is going to be a reissue... will there be any changes and I hope improvements?

I broke one antenna already, but it is truly an amazing piece. That said, I wish it were as heavy duty as my Arcadia! Had one, sold it. A great looking piece of plastic if you can get one for $130. Not really a good deal for $200. I think the Arcadia is much nicer & die-cast!
