I think its like a legendary pokemon, you have only one chance to get it. gunbuster for me falls on that category

To me it is the best or one of the best that SOC has ever made.

I have an SOC Gunbuster, but I really don't like it like most of you do. I don't even have it in display any more. If it wasn't that famous, I would have sold it a long time ago. It was a pain to transform/combine, it took a lot of shelf space, and for some reason, it didn't look "right" next to the other SOCs I have. So, now it sits in its box in a closet...

GX-34 is a marvel. Easily in my SOC top 3.

It's a must-have among must-haves. It's shape is one of a kind. I think it's as much an icon of the 80's as Mazinger Z is of the 70's. The transformation is really cool and the ships LOOK like ships for a change. ;D
It's articulation is excellent for a combiner and it's got a myriad of accessories and display options.
It has it's issues, though. The hinges for the buster-corridor attack ( the attack w/all the "guns" ) are a bit flimsy if you leave them open. Also, GX-34 has a tendency to get upstaged by the larger combiners if you put them next to them. The blockier-shapes of those robots hogs attention away from the sleek lines of the Gunbuster. If Gunbuster was bigger or the same size, trust me---it wouldn't be an issue.
IMO it's best to display it either with smaller robots, or elevated above the larger ones, or with other Gunbuster figures/gashapons for the maximum impact.
It is the largest of the super robots, after all. ;D

Isn't Gurren Lagann the biggest Super Robot now? It's second variation is the size of a city, the third the size of the moon, the fourth and fifth are on cosmic scales... it IS fitting, though, that it is a descendant of Gunbuster.

Yeah, you're right. They're way bigger. I probably should've said the biggest of the old SR's that have been turned into SOCs.
On a sidenote, I'm glad that the Moon & City-sized GL have been turned into something---revoltechs, but I was really wishing for a transformable version of the City-sized one. I forgot what that mech's name was, btw....

I consider Gunbuster to be the best SOC--it is my favorite.
