we know that the plastic Transformers toys (especially from the 2 movies) are made in millions and millions... and teh toys are relatively cheap-- not necessarily collectibles like Banda SOC robots...
so the question is.. do you keep the Transformer movie toys' boxes? so just in case in the future you have to resell-- the toys will have some value instead of being sold "lose"?

normally yes. in this case maybe not. with current lines of toys there seems to be much more collecting and hoarding going on. in the past people didn't realise the potential of the rising values of toys so there is a greater scarcity of vintage toys. as time has passed more people are keeping their toys MIB and more are set aside by collectors. now you have a glut of MIB specimens out there that totally devalue the market. TF was a huge movie with a mountain of merchandising to match. that means these were produced in great abundance. huge supply means low value.
if space is an issue i would keep some of the rarer boxes. the rest you i would just throw on ebay. this is only my opinion. i do smoke a lot of crack.

No. The boxing is horrid anyhow. Most of it tends to be blister packs or some weird shaped box that is just too much of a hassle not to damage in the unpacking process. I keep my MP boxes or say something like my Fansproject box.
I do not resell toys, but I only keep the well designed boxes or boxes from expensive toys that will make it easier to safely transport them when I move.
I do tend to keep the boxes to my vinyl toys though.

I keep all the boxes. It does take up a lot of space, but the value of the box is often as much as the figure depending on it's age. Yes, that will probably not hold true 10 years from now when people are looking back at these overproduced movie figs. But I am not changing now. Besides, even on auctions of more recent figs that fall into the similar overproduced catagory, loose figs get almost nothing when compared to boxed figs.

I keep all of my boxes, but I only keep my Prime boxes, import boxes, high-end priced boxes, and exclusive boxes intact as those are the ones most likely to have value in the future, everything else I flatten out and throw out the inside filler. I remove all of the bubbles from cards and keep those since they're very easy to store.

If its Japanese release with nice box design, then sure. But if they are those horrible looking Hasbro ones with fake photoshopped toy images, you bet they are going straight to the recycle bin.

So basically, domestics=trash/recycle and imports are keepers, unless it was sent off to get graded I guess. Blister packaging get's trashed immediately.

I keep all the boxes. It protects the item from damage or scratches & also keep the accessories in tact. There was one time when my Armada Megatron drop from the top of my cabinet. The Armada Megatron was okay but the plastic styloform was torn.Hate to imagine what will happen if the box & the plastic styloform was not there.

I haven't kept any boxes for the ROTF or TF animated or classics. The only ones I've kept for TF are the Reissues and Masterpieces. I figure eventually one shall stand one shall fall..

Great question! I've wondered about what to do with all the wasteful packaging, too. I'm starting to recycle more and more of the packaging because it takes up too much space.
