This is kind of out of the blue but... has anybody read anywhere what's up with the supposed rerelease of the Toynami Shadow Chronicles Alpha Fighter? Several months ago it sounded like Toynami did right by fans for a change and issued a very impressive recall action on the last Alpha Fighter.
Toyslogic never filled my original order so, at the time, I had hoped that maybe this meant I would be lucky and get one of the new re-issued specimens. But then weeks turned into months without news. In fact, every month Toyslogic would send me an email telling me they would have news "next month." And despite hearing that Toynami was eyeing a July rerelease, earlier this month I received a final email from Toyslogic saying they cancelled my order. And in fact, there's been absolutely no news about when to expect the rerelease at all now.
Robotech as a franchise is pissing me off in general. It seems they just can't get more than one thing going at a time. Right now it looks like Toynami is busy pushing out repaints of the Beta Fighter toy and has forgotten about those of us waiting for the fixed Alpha. And same with the lost follow-up for Shadow Chronicles. At the time Tomy Yune promised that brokering the live-action movie deal wouldn't interfere with efforts on "Shadow Rising." But can you believe it? It's already been 3 years since Shadow Chronicles!

The Robotech franchise does seem to have management issues. They over promise and under deliver. Then they repackage it all and sell it again with better quality and a smaller package. I remember them announcing the Cyclone and BETA three years ago at Anime Boston. All were extremely late. Shadow Chronicles took FOREVER to get released, and then again was repackaged in a better quality format and sold cheaper. It honestly amazes me that they can even hold the company together!

I will not be going into a deep depression because Toynami hasn't retooled their alphas yet. It used to be that people were happy if one or two toys get released a year. But now people want it NOW. Not later, not next month, not in 6 months, but NOW! Because apparently their whole sanity and life depends on having things NOW.

Well, I don't think it's too much to ask that we get some news about the recalled products. I think I've been fair with my patience. Lucky I never got one to begin with so I don't lose anything. But what about people who did send theirs in for replacement? Those poor folks are out the $75 they initially spent.
SDCC came and went. And we still haven't heard anything. Robotech is quickly becoming the Duke Nukem of anime-franchises...

Bump. For anybody who cares, RobotechX.com recently posted a report that Aoshima was showing off their rebuild versions of Legioss AGAIN on the convention circuit. Of course, they didn't have any samples of a R:SC repaint since they're selling "Mospeda" toys and not "Robotech" toys. Still no word from Toynami - the last rumour was something about broken molds when the factory responsible for the initial mess turned them over to the new factory. In other news... last week marked the first anniversary of when this repaint was first announced for pre-order. LOL

Funny how things work out: apparently only 10 days after my last post in this thread, CollectionDX posted a news release that Toynami had finally announced the reissue. Stores are starting to take pre-orders for the "new" rerelease (Toynami will issue 5000 specimens).
I also note with some disdain that Robotech.com, the official site quietly posted their own pre-order page only a couple of weeks ago with no mention of it elsewhere on the site. I've been keeping an eye on the "official" thread in their forums. Nobody in that community picked up on the new announcement until about 3 weeks after CollectionDX broke the story. That's pretty sad.

Just dropping in so ya don't feel alone here in this thread. ;D
-------
On the real... I'd think that fans of this genre would jump on the ball over there at Coll.DX as soon as the new announcement was made.
Makes me wonder, also, what Robotech.com was planning when they made such a "quiet" move like that... like, were they planning some sort of "limited" release to any one or more Certain market groups?
5000 specimens is not a significant lot to sell--- we can go though that in less than two months or as quick as Gort-flies.
