Actually, some Happy Meal toys are pretty cool. I remember when the first Power Ranger Movie came out many years ago, Mac Donalds released the 6 Rangers action figures in 3.75 inch size, and they were very well made. There have been others after that just as nicely done.

I used to shy away from Happy Meal toys, because I'd think they were too simple or generic. But after seeing these Star Wars toys at my local McD's I think I'll give them a try. I hope I'll get to choose which toy I want with my Happy Meal next time I eat there. ;D

Nothing to be shy about, I got this Astro McNugget last year ;D Saw it in their display and I just had to have it. Oh and you can actually choose the toy. In fact, some people just buy the toy not the meal (I was one of them....nowadays the kids meal doesn't fill my kid anymore)

They had other types of McD's Astroboy toys which came out here in Canada in time for the movie release... I happen to be at the mall with my son buying him a McChicken combo. This one was the only one of the lot which resonated with me. Normally I really try to stay on a strict diet of chogokin (now more than ever due to shelf space .....but I also try to stay true to buying what I like, hence the unending battle to achieve collection gokin theme focus rages on......It was $2 who could resist ?

Man, you are Blessed to find that Astro... ...and the coolest thing about it is that it is semi-transparent (you can see his robotic innards in the clear half), just like the old semi-transparent small Mazinger statues (I have one).
Next time some anime-related movie goes the big screen route I'll be sure to crash the gates at McD's for first grabs at the franchise promo toys... I'm out to Bruise! ;D

I think I read that McDonalds is actually the largest toy producer in the world. Bigger then Mattel or Hasbro.
May be an urban legend. Too lazy to Bing it...

Well, whatever it is they do, they always seem to have toy products for almost every other movie franchise out there... ...like, for example, the Speed Racer movie... ...who manufactured Those toys? Them SpeedRacer toys sure went with a Quickness! ;D
This afternoon I went back to McD's to try, I said TRY, to buy the R2D2 and Darth Vader specimens... ...this store was in the Empire State Plaza (Albany NY, for those who've been to upstate NY)... ...I was nervous, too TOO WAYYY TOOOO many yuppies were there on their breaks and powerlunch breaks. Whatever, I just turned yellow in the back and couldn't muster up da guts to buy them. I'll try again tomorrow morning. ;D

"will my nephew/niece like this?" so they will think thats its for someone else thats what i will do... but most McDs branches i get to go here in NYC doesnt have a happy meal display, thats why it doesnt come to mind about what toys are up and available... or maybe i just dont pay attention hehehe

;D ;D ;D YYYYYYES!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
I Finally, FINALLY nabbed me the R2D2 and Darth Vader Happy Meal toy specimens!!! I had to wait until late in the afternoon when all the yuppies are gettin off work and McD's was about to close for the day. ;D Bought 'em str8 (no Happy meal) at $1.79 each!
The specimens friggin ROCK! They have large plastic "D"-rings attached to them. And they split open (hinged) in half (latitudinally, from head to feet) to carry small coin change inside and snap shut. I wont carry chump-change in them. If my ears were pierced, I'd wear them! LOL
The Darth Vader is very detailed, while the R2 is detailed in the head while the body is mostly unpainted except in the front. Still, these are nice to have for what they are. I took pics, but they came out dark; will take better pics and post here to show.

www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/03/22/state/n201940D72.DTL"SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A child's "Happy Meal" may soon be a little less happy in Santa Clara County, where a local official wants to prevent fast-food restaurants from giving away inexpensive toys with kids' orders. County supervisor Ken Yeager plans to ask his colleagues today to order up a law regulating when fast-food outlets can serve toy cars, action figures and other freebies as part of their children's' menus. Yeager says the toys entice young customers to load up on high-calorie fare and may contribute to childhood obesity." Comments???

Yeah, I have a comment: Tell that poliTICKcian Magengar sez to go F himself! If it happens in CA, it'll trickle across the states like piss on a bed. The Toy Police are at it again. They do it in the name of "Health", as if That's gonna prevent "Obesity"... Folks were obese for ages, and so many commercial Health campaign ads were run on tv to teach folks how to eat right and eat a healthy meal. Whatever a person eats is his/her own responsibility, and the government should STAY OUT of people's personal lives. If a person is obese, Eating a healthy diet and plenty of Exercise is his/her responsibility, NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S. The poliTICKcians here in NY state wanna tax our softdrinks for the same stupid reason: in the name of "Health". Whose health? THEIR Financial health. That's all they're good for: TAXING and BANNING all of our pleasurable liberties. I'd better get Layd my brains out in a frenzy before they start banning and taxing That as well! I apologize for goin into a rant, folks. All day long I've seen so many news articles about the govt sticking their noses up everybody's azz and I'm tired of them doing it. zozo-Magengar www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/03/22/state/n201940D72.DTL"SAN JOSE, Calif. yah dude... soon they will be taxing us here for the air we breathe, F^%&%&% Bloomberg. same with Albany saying theres no money in the state. they collect taxes worth billions and they have the guts to say theres no money? and they still want money? ... here's the solution. . .
add more taxes to the people!
